Today on the channel we move a bunch of hardwood logs (oak, hickory, etc.) to the @woodlandmills HM130 Max Sawmill. We make some log bunks with our new @MillerWelders mig welder, give the old OBS 7.3 Powerstroke a good workout and have some fun with the neighbors 873@BobcatCo and the trusty old L5240 @Kubotatractorcorp
Tune in for a classic!!

Always run the stock radiator 13 psi cap!!! Many 7.3 blogs say this and I've always trusted their knowledge. They also say to always use an OEM thermostat in the 7.3. Hope this helps keep your truck Happy and healthy!❤

Looked like the old 7.3 did pretty good for itself. I wouldn't worry about doing 70 on the highway, I tow at 55 all the time with my 4th gen cummins. A little slower but a lot safer. 4 wheel drive would help more than anything else the commenters suggest, 4 low is a huge improvement pulling heavy out of the woods, and the traction issues you ran into as well obviously

Triple axle trailer, not even close to maxing that trailer out………now the truck may be a different story but sounded like a 2nd gear start the way it was lugging it down to choke it off

@@young11984 @dieseJL I run an automatic, F350 diesel pulling a dump trailer and it handles the TOTAL GVW at 25000 lbs. with no problem. I'm not hardly ever running on the flat ground either as I am in the Olympics and Cascades. I also haul a Kubota SVL75 Compact Track Loader. I've had loads of Big Leaf Maple weighing in at just under 15000 lbs., which means I was right about 26500-27000 GVW. Also, my dump trailer is only two axles! So all in all, the setup you (dieseJL) have with the excellent three axel would work just fine in my humble opinion.

@@raycowles6646 oh yea i said that he was nowhere near maxing the trailer out but sounded like he was in too high (2nd not 1st) when pulling out the driveway, may have been in 1st idk but she lugged mighty hard imo for no more weight that he had on it. We pulled 18k on the 5500lb dual tandem trailer behind our 97 F350 and it would carry the front tires off the ground out into the roadway in 1st/low gear in high range not 4x4 low range. Love the truck/trailer set up just was curious as why it lugged and needed the skidsteer needed to help move it.

Plus a heavy duty jack. BTW you did a super nice job on the hubs and suspension fixes. Stay safe..

Its wild your pump leaked out the weep hole and my 2000 7.3 water pump bearing went out and i kept hearing a noise but couldn’t ever locate it. Pulled in the driveway after coming home from a 5hr round trip, cut it off and heard a hissing raised the hood it stopped. About 20 min later o heard what sounded like a water faucet running, went out and coolant was everywhere. Towed it to my shop and the bearing was so shot that the pulley had worn thru the pump housing but never leaked out the weep hole that was wide open and clear lol. Got lucky and found an OEM Ford pump complete off Ebay for less than any local pars house, been on it for 60k miles without an issue so far. Cool bunks you built, that 2” tube should never bend unless the one loading/unloading gets excited and drives into them. As long as they are chained down none of the logs will ever be pushing on them anyway, uprights are just for if the securement fails the logs dont fall off in the road lol.

Yeah I did not get lucky with the stupid water pump but like I said maybe the new cap had it pressurized too much?
@young11984
@young11984 Жыл бұрын

What year is your dually? Those old powerstrokes will do work but not much grunt on the bottom end but will pull strong when you get rolling and the RPMs up. My dad bought a new one not long after I got my 95 3500 Dodge with the Cummins. We were moving a lot of hay. Always overloaded. He'd have trouble in the field getting rolling especially if the load sat very long. Never had any trouble like that with the Dodge but when we hit the highway he would be pulling away from me unless there was a really big hill then I would catch back up and ride his bumper like I wanted to push him.
