@erictoulon59465 ай бұрын
In Hawaii the standard measurement between swells is about fifty five feet. If you have a boat that big or bigger you generally glide between swells. If it’s smaller you frequently end up bobbing around like a cork. We generally have deeper V’s and flared bows in order to compensate for rougher waters

As a kayaker and sailor I wear a PFD as a matter of course, I spend quite a bit of time surf kayaking and at the end of a day surfing I’ll always have a swim, it feels totally alien and unsafe to be out on the sea without my PFD so I’ll often be found swimming with it still on. These folks seem oblivious to how quickly a decent day on the water can go wrong, given that children are fairly ignorant of the danger why aren’t parents instilling them with some sort of safety awareness and insisting they wear some safety gear? Are there any requirements for boat owners to have any sort of training?

I haven’t watched this channel in quite a while because I got fed up with the lack of attention to safety especially in regards to kids not being secure and wearing life jackets. Nothing has changed.

A well respected mariner once said there is much you can do at sea with common sense, and very little you can do without it. Of course the majority of these haulover buffoons have no intention of going to sea. There goal is to try and impress everyone with there grossly overpowered machines whilst they pound themselves into oblivion on there way to the nearest sand bar.

With all the inherent dangers that come along when using an inlet I'm of the opinion that it should be used strictly as a means to get in/out of port. In this short run of water, no one should be swimming there except for accidentally plunging in? Also no fishing at least from boats should be going on and jet-skiers should not perform tricks by jumping waves or boat wakes as to keep people from falling into the water. Everyone should be able to use the inlet but I think they use it & then go play up/down the coast = don't play inside that short area of the cut itself. OR let fishing line with hooks be entangled on jet skier's & boat propellers and don't forget doing all this with swimmers as well? Do as thou wilt..... I don't think so. peace & be safe
