It’s not limiting. But science have has a limit. You won’t find empirical evidence for everything. You cannot prove the past happened with empirical evidence.
@AngSuxPP4 жыл бұрын
NR Ramirez i can agree with that to a certain extent but i dont believe we can take her word for being a reincarnated alien as actual proof. however, its not like we can be presented with an alien body or have any physical evidence presented to us just yet, so most people rely on the statistical probability of aliens.
@tan15914 жыл бұрын
Angelina Lasić I agree, there is also evidence contrary her claim. Because if she’s talking about just the physical realms (by what is empirically observe) , then in this physical realm it’s unlikely for that to happen to her. Unless an alien were to bend the laws of nature and cause someone to be an alien. Then that could be probable, but not reasonable. That would be an “idk” position. But the evidence that’s contrary to her claim would lead to a “no that can’t happen to her” Her parents could also attest that she isn’t an alien. The hospital she was born in can also attest. And I think that astral projection can just be explained away with lucid dreaming.

@@tan1591 There's deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning to determine conclusions. Neither side can really deductive conclude that it is guaranteed she is right or wrong. However, through inductive reasoning I'm pretty sure most rational people would see the vast amount of evidence stacked against the idea of "starseeds" and conclude that it is most probably incorrect and not a real justified belief. I don't think she could even really give much evidence to suggest that it is probable... So I feel like I'm inclined to just see her as being irrational for holding this belief... Anyway, when it comes to the part about proving the past, this is actually a thing in philosophy. It's the Omphalos hypothesis essentially, or the "five-minute hypothesis" the way Bertrand Russell puts it where basically you technically can't prove that the universe and everyone's memories and such were not created as little as even 5 minutes ago... There's various problems with this, but one is just the sheer fact that it is unfalsifiable AND unverifiable through science... That means it's basically on the same level as unicorns and centaurs flying around extremely distant in space... I can argue that it doesn't make sense for there to be space unicorns and space centaurs, but neither of us could really prove or disprove it without being able to see the whole of maybe not even just this universe, but all universes and things that might be similar to universes and so on... Still, if I provide evidence about things like the lack of oxygen and lack of evolutionary evidence and what not to argue why space unicorns and space centaurs PROBABLY don't exist, then if you're a rational thinker you should probably be able to come to agreement that these things PROBABLY don't exist... That doesn't mean they don't exist, but like unless you have some weird inductive reasoning of your own to provide for why these things PROBABLY do exist, the inductive reasoning should be able to get us both as rational thinkers to the same conclusion... Obviously the starseed thing probably isn't QUITE as ridiculous as space unicorns and space centaurs, but all the same I'm pretty sure if you went into a long debate over the topic then assuming you're both thinking rationally and not like emotionally tied to the idea or anything and haven't made it like a part of your identity or something like that to bias yourself into believing in spite of logic, then I'm pretty sure both people would quite easily come to the conclusion that it's ridiculous... I mean, I guess you could get into question what is considered 'evidence' to support inductive reasoning when it comes to things like the raven's paradox where a green apple could arguably be proof of ravens being black, but that's a whole other rabbit hole to go down...

There is actual scientific research into DMT not being a traditional hallucinogen but rather a compound that may remove your brains filters of perception of reality, meaning that what you experience on DMT might very well be real. This research is especially done by psychologists, neuroscientists, and pharmacists. So yeah it's not as easy to debunk everything.

They can’t be easily explained though, which is exactly what makes them out of the ordinary. The current research on psychedelics is extremely scarce because of the legalities of researching illegal substances. There have been studies that used mushrooms on cancer patients for example, and they found that a large sum of the patients came to terms with their mortality of death. They did another study on clinically depressed patients and they found that mushrooms were extremely effective in treating their depression long term. But they don’t know why. You can look at all the parts of the brain that fire when someone is on these substance, you watch the levels of the neurotransmitters fluctuate, but that will give you very little insight on what the person is actually experiencing. People are quick to write off psychedelic experiences as “hallucinations” which they are, but they’re extremely complex hallucinations that take place in all 5 senses, that cannot be imagined, and can only be experienced within a specific state of consciousness. The point I’m trying to make here is you shouldn’t judge people for coming to irrational conclusions based off of these drug experiences, they’re trying to explain experiences that are insanely complex. And science has yet to explain it either. But we’re working on it. Sources: Google “John Hopkins mushroom depression study” , I can’t link it here due to spam
@mikebarnacle14693 жыл бұрын
Ya, quite the opposite. Modern neuroscience is actually experiencing something of a revolution right now that is finding a lot of these crackpot ideas to have some validity. Expanded perception is like a fish coming out of water, seeing the rest of the world, then going back in to the pond and all the other fish not believing there is anything beyond the pond. The problem is that even the fish that left the pond doesn't really have the ability to comprehend it, so he comes up with all sorts of absurd explanations, that only make his case more unbelievable. This is how you get the guy in the video.

It’s an interesting topic because so many things in our lives do things to our brains. Watching TV, playing video games, the food we eat, the music we listen to, the way we move, the things we’re taught. Some may say that these drugs can help to undo some of our conditioning from life. I don’t know enough about hallucinogens and whether there is an eternal truth to the experiences we have. Here's my problem with this topic: the perception of what aliens are or what aliens could be is extremely damaged/molded by pop culture, such as movies, that portray them in a certain way. How do we know that aliens aren't just a blade of grass, or microscopic bacteria under a rock? How do we know the aliens aren't just little space ants crawling like the bugs here on Earth? I don't take people who believe in aliens seriously enough, or believe they are extensively educated on this, because they always picture aliens in the same way, and don't understand that aliens could literally be anything, they don't have to have human intelligence or be able to move around - Plants can't move and they aren't intelligent, but they are alive. If it's so hard for us to explore and travel space, then why must we assume that it is easy for aliens to explore and travel that same space that we live in? Maybe aliens are having just as hard of a time as we are, trying to create world peace between them and trying to figure out how to travel space. Until then, I don't believe in aliens in the same way most people do.

Edit: 4.6 billion years ago Mars looked like Earth now. Mars was filled with oceans, lakes and had rain. During this period, Earth was still transforming, it was still made of lava and had asteroids crashing on it. It's highly likely that Mars had life on it in the form of bacteria or microorganisms in the water. The period theorized and known as the Late Heavy Bombardment saw both Earth and Mars being hit with asteroids that would forever change the course of life. Sadly for Mars, soon after this period it lost its magnetic field too quickly and its atmosphere weakened, drying up the water and turning it into the arid red planet we know today. During this same time, Earth was beginning to settle, water appeared and continents formed. Did life evolve on Earth on its own? Or is it possible that the asteroids hitting Earth were carrying bacteria from other solar systems? Were some of these asteroids from Mars? Are we actually aliens or maybe even Martians? To answer your question: Do aliens exist? Yes. Whether it is in the form of vegetation such as plants, insects or other developed beings, the possibilities are endless. There are very old solar systems in the universe, and new solar systems that are being born everyday. It is not hard to imagine some of the older systems had the right conditions for life to thrive and have aliens evolve into intelligent beings who figured out how to travel through galaxies. Yet who are we to say that life needs water and oxygen? We have seen life thrive here on Earth in the craziest of environments! Btw, the documentary I'm talking about is called BBC The Planets: The Two Sisters (episode 2 out of the 5). It's beautifully done. I highly recommend it. 💜

I can’t imagine being the older gentleman listening to the guy saying drugs caused him to “see” real aliens. Hallucinations are things that you think you’re seeing but aren’t real. @andreaguerrero1024 жыл бұрын
Yeah and I think what Dominic said at the end is very true. If we accept that idea of hallucinations being the "truth," then we have to credit people with schizophrenia and all these other mental issues that cause them seeing things. It's real for them, but it's all on their head. Hallucinations are not tangible things. An acid trip that takes you to another dimension is not evidence. I kinda feel sorry for these people that think they are on another dimensions when they take drugs. Just shows how dangerous drugs are. I feel like the believer side didn’t include people with a strong scientific or journalistic background. There are certainly more professional individuals who can make a different type of argument than a podcast host who had a psychedelic experience, an IT guy who saw a UFO (not the same thing as aliens and a personal experience alone is not sufficient evidence), and a woman who’s unsuccessfully trying to make a spiritual argument for the existence of aliens.
@breewoodward36513 жыл бұрын
Ya I consider myself to be a believer of alien life forms. That doesn't mean that I believe with 100% certainty that they have had contact with humans. If the universe is as endless as scientists say it would be impossible for earth to be the only planet with life. I also subscribe to the simulation theory though, it makes more sense than any other universe theory (in my opinion), it isn't a fringe theory either, many reputable scientists believe in it. So idk if I would be considered a skeptic or believer for the purpose of this video, but I will argue if someone states flatly that aliens don't exist.

The fact that the believers kept saying that scientists only try to prove people wrong but then they sit on the other side of that spectrum makes me mad. The non believers had open minds and said they don’t want to jump to conclusions, that they can to use facts to get to conclusions, but then the believers are just assuming things and saying they’re right. When the one guy said people used to think thunder was god the believers should have thought for a second, but instead they wouldn’t even listen to that. That one sentence basically debunked their entire point.

Lizzy Hennegan Lets be honest here.. Everyone thought the planet was flat even though Isaac Newton proved that theory to be completely false. It was also reportedly proven during Ancient Greek times too. People that are ignorant will believe whatever they want despite facts

The point of science is to keep looking for ways to disprove a theory. A theory is only good as long as it passes tests. This is why scientists 'disprove' theories, not to contradict people who are believers lol. Besides, one can never totally disprove a theory as there is always more to learn and test. This is exactly the point of the two skeptic guys, science works in statistics.

I see what's she's getting at but that's not how it works. Even if she is a star seed, she got a long way to go... But we have to abide by the laws of the land(which is mentioned in multiple religious texts) and even in science(maybe not those exact words) just because you perceive one thing doesn't make it the rule. my individual experiences and opinion isn't the rule.
