Barcelona should be like Ajax or Benfica and just focus on their academy. Develop these players for few years and sell them for huge profit. Do this for 10 years until their finances are in check and they won’t be broke anymore.
@emmanuelc64133 ай бұрын
The finances are in check already. Selling wonderkids make profit but so does winning trophies. Barcelona lower their wages by 200M, got around 50-100M profit in sales every summer since Laporta arrived, won LaLiga and got into latter stages of UCL, and strengthened their squad with free transfers and La Masia players. Not entirely necessary to turn yourself into a selling club for a decade when you have a good project.

@@Foxtrot6624 No youngster has gotten injured "almost immediately" like you say like Bernal. Pedri got so many injuries a year after debuting with Barça and it was because of the Euro and Olympics. Gavi got it at a Spain game more than 2 years after making his debut. Ansu more than a year later. Balde a year and a half. I do agree, though, Barça should look into this, because it's not normal. However, other players who aren't young like Araújo, Frenkie, Ter Stegen, Christensen have also been injured, so it's not so clear that it's only a younglings' problem.

I honestly think, given there is clear evidence of increased burnout and injury risk in teen footballers, there should be a hard limit on the number of matches a teen should be allowed to start. Lionel Messi didn't play over 30 games until he was 19, and his career turned out ok. It'd be a damn shame if in 5 years time we start seeing "what happened to Spain's wonderkid?" videos with Lamine Yamal in the thumbnail.

@@justagame101 Exactly! You see how Pep has managed Foden's career compared to how Saka is becoming inconsistent due to being overused at Arsenal. @yourannoyingness3 ай бұрын
@@mayanknarula1000 That's literally one match, even by your assessment. Is that how inconsistency is measured? For perspective, Foden debuted in 2017, while Saka debuted two years later, in 2019. Yet, bar this season, the City man has only played 33 more games than the Gunners man. Two full years ahead, and that's the difference in matches played between them. Saka has still played more EPL games than Foden. Yet, check their outputs, and Foden is still ahead. I'm not calling Saka a bad player. But he's suffered inconsistencies due to being overplayed.
