Have I Bought a Fake Sennheiser MKH 416 Microphone?

Which is better reject the noise SM7b or mkh416? Behind the wall my relatives going to the kitchen or bath so my NT1 record 100-400Hz noise from steps, switches and doors klicks, dishes sound. May you compare this two mics with noise rejection created outside this room?

SM7B. It's not even close. The SM7B is a dynamic microphone so it only picks up noise close to the microphone.

sir i also have a doubt that mine is original or not . As it come in a Blue and Grey colored sennheiser named box instead of a grey cardboard box .Is that Fake??? when i looked in unboxing videos all are having grey Cardboard box . please help.

I'm not sure. Many companies use different packaging in different regions, plus there are a lot of fakes of this going around.

Any weight difference between the Fake and Real?

Not that I'm aware of, but I didn't make a direct comparison.

@@KevinMuldoon only reason I am asking as I heard the fakes are build like evape cigarettes so I am sure weight differences of at least 10 grams woukd tell you its fake or real. Real ones are 171 grams in weight.

What’s the final verdict on the mic? Is it real? Because from what I understand the real 416 doesn’t have that white cylinder at the end of the mic. I’m not an expert but I’d be interested if you discovered anything else.

Yes it seems real. I removed the casing and examined the module inside. It's real.

Kevin Muldoon thanks for the response. I just unscrewed my 416 and there is no white cylinder at the end. If you go to the txsound.com site that you posted and scroll down you’ll see that white cylinder as a sign of a fake. That being said, I still don’t know for sure. What I do know is either you or I have a fake because they are not the same.

It's too late for me to return it so I'm scared to find out haha. There will be differences between 416 models. There may be different versions of the microphone and perhaps even variations between regions. Companies regularly change the internals of products over time due to improvements in tech and changes in supplies. I do recall looking into this a lot at the time and it seemed real.

@@KevinMuldoon Yeah I understand. I just bought mine on eBay as well and I just dont know. It looks real... but Im not an expert. I get my Zoom recorder f4 tomorrow ... Ill know more if the noise floor is too high. I just hope the preamps on f4 are good enough. Im more of a video expert... but with audio... Im a total rookie. uhg. In any event, I enjoyed the video. @@redplanet76 you're welcome. I'm neither a video or audio expert haha. I do try and do as much research as possible before buying anything so I have picked up some knowledge along the way. My recommendation is to open it up and check the microphone module.
