@Bunbury422 ай бұрын
I get you're making a joke, but check out Pittsburgh-style steak, also known as black-and-blue. It's a hard, hard char on the outside while staying very rare on the inside. Not all steakhouses can do it, as it can be both tricky, and demanding of special attention (two things a busy kitchen doesn't love), but I really like it.

@davedavid427Ай бұрын
@@Sean2884 It's an indirect way to ask what they do best if you're not sure what to order. Regulars presumably order what a restaurant does best - but not necessarily, they could just have boring taste. This place is in midtown, so it must have alot of tourists and business crowd. They might not have many regulars, plus many tourists play it safe (and nothing says 'compromise to make everyone in a group happy' like going to a steakhouse). It's a kinda pointless question at newer restaurants or possible tourist traps, but it makes sense at a popular neighbourhood spot.

Nothing makes my day more than seeing a UA Premiere come across my YT feed. And STEAK!
@dennist.82102 ай бұрын
Hey UA! Great to see you back at steaks! Last time when I was able to catch you and chat during one of the premiere videos, it was nice. Hopefully, I'll be able to catch one of those again as that way I can directly chat with you in a way! I'd be so happy If you had your wish come true and got to experience true Kobe beef! I've had A5 Wagyu many times now and while I think you'd enjoy it overall (I'm always ecstatic when I have a chance to eat it), after watching you for a while now, I think you might not enjoy it quite as much as some others. A5 Wagyu is veryyyyyy buttery, velvety and melts in your mouth. However, for some, it may not have that heavy beefy flavor that they like. Similarly, for some, eating an entire A5 by themselves proves to be too much and it's best enjoyed with someone (perhaps Tina?). I'd highly recommend trying a good* American Wagyu first and then an Australian Wagyu (which in my opinion will probably be your favorite). I say that because Aussie Wagyu, especially a BMS 8/9, has the perfect balance of marbling and flavor. Of course, I'd still recommend trying A5 because it truly is a decadent piece of meat. I'd be more than happy to give you a particular secret suggestion of mine for a place that might be absolutely perfect for you to try A5. Let me know if you'd like that! As a general suggestion though, 212 Steakhouse DOES have true Kobe beef (if memory serves, it's the only one on the East coast that does) and it also has Aussie wagyu as well! Finally, I do hope you also consider trying some steakhouses that aren't in Manhattan. Christos steakhouse in Astoria, for example, is one that I used to like...though admittedly it's been years since I've been! Cheers UA! Keep up the wonderful videos pal!

Totally different “steak experience” than in the USA. Do your research about the different types of A5 and where to get it before you go. Highly recommend Royal Mouriya in Kobe. Don’t wait, just do it with a weak yen.

We bought the wagyu from the store (Tobu department store in Ikebukoro). It was insanely inexpensive and absolutely delicious. It was worth paying to fly over there just for the beef. We ate at Kobe 511 and highly recommend it. Kobe 511 was equal to us paying to eat a nice steakhouse in the US. ($1,100 for five of us).
