The Irish national party guy is known as Littler as in lilltle 'itler. There's a lot of comedy around them including having €400k worth of gold 'stolen' from the party safe by party members. Problem is no one knows where this gold came from. They had under 10k on the books in 2019 & 20 and no donations in 2021. Anyway, Littler was removed as leader last year but he says that's not possible under the party's rules. Living up to the Littler name.

About 18mths before air-fryers really took off, I purchased an almost brand new Breville bench-top oven/toaster for a great price, so I'd been using it to cook all sorts of food from frozen fish & chips, to roasts. However, when competitors began selling all kinds of air-fryer models, I found it rather amusing that Breville just made an updated version of my oven but with an extra setting on its fancy LCD display, plus they included a mesh tray for doing food like fish & chips, without having to turn them!
@garrick3727Ай бұрын
Yes it's all a marketing gimmick to get people to buy another appliance. The sandwich maker of its day. We had all the hype in the States a few years back and now you hardly ever hear anyone mention air fryers and many of them go unused. One of the most common items in thrift stores and on eBay.

I have this Breville toaster oven too in the US (California) and this is exactly what happened 😅 I do really like it overall but the air fryer setting is just “super convection” with the mesh tray, but it works for me since I don’t air fry much and it is good for cooking so many other things

27:40 - I gave a cursory check at other Comments to see if this was already stated, but obviously at 27:40 the captions under the photos are switched. The photo on the left is Steph McGovern. The one on the right is Stormy Daniels. The furthest I've got figuring out the "Ena B. Rewster" joke is either "Brewster" or "Rooster".
@dminghellaАй бұрын
Versions of this comment have been made here a few times, so allow me to clarify - Private Eye regularly prints letters from people suggesting funny lookalikes, and they always put the wrong person’s name under each picture - it’s part of the joke. Similarly, a lot of letters are signed Ena B as a tribute to a long-running joke in the mag where staff would write fake letters from Ena B Maxwell, Headington Hall, Oxfordshire. Headington Hall was the home of Robert Maxwell, and the joke was supposed to be that he was writing in about ridiculous subjects using a crap and obvious pseudonym.

42:59 - A little bit of rain for this parade. That photo 43:05 doesn't show a U.S. Army officer. That's a U.S. Air Force officer. The reason for putting the error in the script is puzzling, because all you need for the joke to work is for her to be a Colonel (so that Biden can say "Hello, Colonel Gaddafi"), and she IS a Colonel. So what was the reason to change "Air Force" to "Army"? FYI she is United States Air Force Colonel Angela Ochoa, and she is the commander of the unit known as 89th Airlift Wing Division. The 89th does many things, but one mission of theirs is to fly either of the two Boeing VC-25's (heavily modified Boeing 747s) when that plane is serving as Air Force One. Biden may be asking her to find a different vendor for the in-flight lobster bisque or something.
@MB-dg3lrАй бұрын
Maybe cos no one cares? Out side of US, they are all just military
@GildedmuseАй бұрын
You pointed out yourself that her military branch is irrelevant to the joke.
@topherthe11th23Ай бұрын
@@Gildedmuse But what I mean is, since it's irrelevant, why use the WRONG one? I get it that if she were Navy they'd never say she was Navy, but would change her to a different branch, because the Navy doesn't HAVE Colonels, and the joke wouldn't work. So they'd have to change it. So why change "Air Force" to "Army"? I wonder how many times I will have to re-ask that question before someone tells me what the point of changing "Air Force" (correct, and therefore better) to "Army" (incorrect, and therefore weaker and bewildering in its lack of necessity) was. If you have a good joke about a plumber walking into a bar, why change it to a plumber walking into a spaceship if "spaceship" has nothing to do with the joke? Just leave it at bar!
@GildedmuseАй бұрын
@@topherthe11th23 Oh, it's more that because the joke works, no one thought to research the details. Must the time when we laugh at these sort of quick jokes, the point is more the impression than the accuracy.

@GildedmuseАй бұрын
@@jmc4975 I guess my point was just that I still find the jokes funny, even if I'm less familiar with the politics. It's not a perfect similie since most UK citizens are likely far more informed about US politics than the reverse, so they're more likely to be familiar with reference material and what not. Still, there are enough jokes accessable even if you don't have a solid knowledge of UK politics (just like the Daily Show has plenty of jokes that work without having to know our political scene that well) plus the more I watch the more I find myself strangely up to date about UK politicians (to be fair I also used to watch MtW and now watch Pod Save the UK. So I'm not completely without reference points for HIGNFY but I'd bet that many Americans viewers are in a similar position).

@adam.millerchipАй бұрын
There isn't a punchline, that's just how he pronounces it because that's how "sunak" is pronounced in his accent if you just read the letters, even thought it's not the way to say the prime minister's name. Ian was probably making a fuss at his lack of ability to get it right, something that might be expected of a person hosting a major TV show when talking about the prime minister.
@topherthe11th23Ай бұрын
@@adam.millerchip Yes, that is strange. For someone of Martin Lewis's profile in the U.K. to think that the "Sun" in "Sunak" is pronounced like the word "sun" is like if Suze Orman were to think the "Bid" in President Biden's name is pronounced like the word "bid". I mean, how does a big-time journalist like Lewis (or, hypothetically, Orman) NOT know the name of the Head of Government in the country where they were born and have always lived and worked, when they must be hearing it said aloud all the time?
