In the midst of what I find to be a thoroughly amusing show, Feargal Sharkey's comments about peace and community actually bought a tear to my eye. As a teenaged punk in the early eighties I saw the Undertones live on many occasions. He impressed me then as a performer - great live band, by the way - and he impresses me here as a sane, independent voice vocalising what the vast majority of people actually believe.

After the show you should wander down to the pompidou center and have some lovely horsemeat in the local cafe. If you have too much Orangina use the pissoir on the way home. Getting cold of the grey weather in Paris? Have a few days off? How about a trip to Cahors? Wander the local streets, see the famous bridge and see the famous Devil's brick there. A bit flush with cash? Why not jump on the SNCF and take a trip to the stunning south coast and spend some time in Nice or the lovely Saint-Tropez? You could wear some laceless slip on white shoes and walk along the promenade whistling Charles Trenet's La Mer while imagining a young Bridget Bardo on your arm. Feeling amorous, you might fancy going with one of the local tarts, but they're too expensive in that playground of the millionaires and you have to make do with sating your lust with a gypsy girl on the beach for a handful of Euros and then find she stole your white shoes. You'll walk back to your hotel feeling shameful, you old reprobate.
