The factory recommends 2-3mm of free play, but I prefer a little less. At full lock on either side, I still have a tad bit of wiggle room. I like to have as little play in my clutch as I can get away with. Same with the throttle. I love having responsive and direct-feeling controls.

I’ve had the bike for 2 weeks now it’s had it’s first service and seems a lot freer, she spins up faster and runs smoother. There is something fun about this bike that I am not quite sure what it is. For its size it’s very manoeuvrable and the lack of power it’s actually a more enjoyable ride not having to keep the beast tamed on the corners …. Well here is my thoughts on it at 160k. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJLCkHmHrNeoh9k

Great vid, thanks heaps. Just bought my 2nd hand '20 Himalayan last week. Been having issues stalling during takeoff and consequently dropping the bike! Although I'm betting my noob-ness is playing a big part, any tips like the stuff covered in this vid help. That way I can remove all doubt that it aint me haha. Although was riding around town on a GN125 earlier in the week for a lesson and didn't have any stalling issues :/ Any advice from other himmy owners would be appreciated.

Thanks. Just motivated me to check mine - 3mm clearance after 2000km travelled since 5000km service. Noted the TEC sticker on the fridge. Investigating a TEC drop-in camshaft for a claimed 20% lift in horsepower to complement the other mods. Currently none in stock. Do you have any experience with this product? Cheers from down under.

Great video and appreciate the effort. I want to attract your attention to some other issues that are pointed out by some Himalayan users from India. (a) Trouble starting in cold weather; (b) Engine stalling at high rpm in gear no. 4 & 5 while the rider is trying to select lower gears, such 2 or 1, suddenly; (c) Water going inside fuel tank, and thereby leading to missing to fire by the engine; (d) repeated failure of cone set (sometimes within 2000 km) located at steering neck; (e) spokes getting loose after a couple of rough rides; (f) loud sound coming from clutch when a rider is launching the vehicle in 1st gear; (g) creaking sound emanates from rear suspension when the vehicle is moving on a rough patch. Have you faced any of these problems? I hope not, but here in India things are not so straight forward with Himalayan. Off course, service center is trying to help as much as they can but it seems that owning a Himalayan is equivalent to one becoming a motorcycle mechanic here in India. Frankly speaking, it is not possible for every rider to acquire a substantial technical prowess.

@@a.k.mukherjee3873 message is simple, not all bikes are made for everyone. Some people have issues with some bikes that the same bikes offer zero issues to others. Anything made by man can and will fail. Its the approach of tackling these failures that make the experience. I've had major issues with Triumph, yet I feel its not the brands fault. Stuff hapoens

Hi Ronin. Can you please tell me the distance between the left and right pannier ? I am interested in buying the givi canyon grt709 panniers which are giving my pilion a space of exact 48cms. We tried the RE panniers at the service center and they really cramped up my wife but I couldn't measure them at the time. I am curious how much space they actually offer upon being measured.

Given you can find some metric Allen Keys (wrenches), this being stubbornly anti-metric America, you could use a 3mm Allen as a gauge.
