HAha, I was trying not to my rhymes in this video as it was a serious matter, but it did not hurt. Nerves severed and it only hurt (soar) days later. About a month later, some puss bubbled up and sand particles came OUT! Then it healed completely. A bite is worse as it sends more nasty mouth bacteria in you.

One time my housecat got out, and went after the neighbours cat who was quite old, and maybe only 1/4 his size. He very easily could have killed her, worst case scenario.So I bolted after him, grabbed him by the scruff and held him compressed to my chest. Unfortunately, I didn't quite manage to grab his scruff, or not enough at least, as the moment I grabbed the back of his neck, his head whipped around 180 degrees and chomped down hard right on the meat of my thumb. Left quite a hole that went down to the bone. But I never once felt that he was at fault or to blame. That was entirely my fault for not ensuring he was safely inside, and for not grabbing him correctly. He was an animal defending his territory, and even if it would turn out exactly the same, I'd still do what I did. It is the only time he has ever bitten me (or that I've ever been bitten by a cat) and I've always known that when it comes to animals, if you get hurt, it is always your own fault. Thanks for continuing to share these wonderful animals with the world Dolph!

Beautiful explanation. Fascinated with and love the big cats. We've got three miniatures here - Bengals - and two beloved previously, who were with us for some 14 years, until old age unfortunately took it's toll. I found mutual respect and trust is the operative - plus, more importantly - they just "love to know" show them what you're doing, let them sniff and look and curiosity is satiated. Helps create a relationship as we're part of "their family" Cats really are folk, but in a different guise. Fascinating creatures! Lovely videos and thanks for what you're doing.

Accidents happen, one can never prepare enough for such eventuality. I assume Gabe's food aggression is mostly instinct based and he did not mean it. But it could easily be that as non domesticated animals any big cats could do something unpredictable for reasons imperceivable to humans (stray smell startling sound in distance etc). Still a lovely relationship and incredible cat this Gabriel and offcourse both "the one of them" Kenji and Eden clearly loving their human caretaker (even without beard, which i assume is older footage?). I am glad that the Cheetahs have such strong proponent as Dolph, because they are remarkable beings that i would never get to see from this up close and through understanding them we can best learn how to help them in recovering from endangered status. Also its incredibly entertaining for me .) So obvious thanks to any and everyone taking care of any wild animals in all similar care programmes to ones who mr. Volker goes to help with, you peopel are truly saving amazing creatures from humanity's recklessness.

This happened about 5 years ago. Decided to show it now. It happened because I was away 6 months, no one hand fed him and he reverted back to food possession and aggression not remembering my sharing of food. Holding the bones is the worst risk and I do it anymore, except one time (shown at end of this video) where I held a rib that he dropped becasue he could not get any more meat off it without my help. Thanks for your interest and input!

I left Cheetah Experience many years ago where Kenji was. This video clip was when he was about 2 old. No one filmed him since he was sent into the breeding program, but I did see him when I pickup Gabriel and Abi and moved them to Running Wild Conservation about 4 years ago. It was too risky to interact with him. A couple of years before that I did visit Kenji and he was OK, but wanted to play fight with me and I could not let him. He always bit too hard. I learned he died of kidney failure and is gone... :(

I have two 9 year old girls named Sushi and Mochi. Sushi has never once bitten or scratched me under any circumstances. Not once. Mochi has accidentally scratched me a handful of times during play, but she always looks visibly concerned when she realizes that she hurt me and she immediately brings her energy level down so it doesn't happen again. So much of it boils down to bonding and the individual personality of the animal. ...but even then, accidents/confusion can happen. I'm sure Gabriel wouldn't ever consciously decide to hurt you. He's just a big boy with big claws. From what I can tell, most injuries from captive/tame big cats happen by accident, not because the cat just "snaps for no reason" and attacks.

Dog bits are way worse dogs when they bite bite to inflict serious harm they do not just bite and hold for the most part they bite and shake. Cheetahs use suffocation/strangulation bites to take down pray meaning bite and hold not bite and shake. Yeh a cheetah bite is gona be fairly bad but not close to what even a dog half their size will do. Friend of mine got bit by a jack Russel that meant it that little dog ripped open his calf to the point he required serious surgery to repair the damage he still has a dent in his right calf about and inches deep where the little dog ripped out a chunk of meat all in about 10 seconds. That was from a sub 15 pound dog

so basically cheetahs are more like dogs lol I got a few nice gashes from dog claws over the years. I would honestly trust a wild cheetah than some dogs (no not based on breed a dog is a dog is a dog). I have seen far to many videos of fully wild cheetahs seeking the company of humans including mother cheetahs with cubs. I mean seriously looking at those example videos of cheetah attacks those are nothing compared to a dog attack. These are more along the lines of as you said food aggression . I had been curious about their full nature of their claws though and they do resemble how a dogs claws are than a cats. My 1 house cat has claws that are like little razors and are um very long she has drawn blood from me to many times to count and you do not even realize it till you see yourself bleeding

May I ask for your opinion on caracal cats and cheetahs? If you have had experiences with caracals, how do they compare to cheetahs? Do they have a similar temperate? Thank you for sharing this informative video! My question is off topic 😂 but I would love to hear from you!
@CheetahWhisperer4 ай бұрын
Not really. Caracals are part of the lessor cats like cheetahs but are more war like. Nut lile cheetsjs, the ones I've come across don't work well with other cats unless raised with them. Cheetah are semi social amd caracals are not. Female cheetahs are solitary exert with cubs. Male cheetahs will form coalitions of other males and even with an occasional female. Caracals are completely solitary in the wild and when brothers are raised together and kept together, they will end up growling hissing and fighting. Nature drives them to a solitary life. Thus they don't get along well with other cats. I have couple caracal videos on my channel. There were sevals and caracals together for while, all neutered and they had to be separated due to aggression. I've known of seevals being killed even between fences from caracals grabbing ahold of them. Not mine. I don't one or ever owned a caracal. I'd never allow them next to each other except a very secure fence. Caracals can be nice with people if raised but they may hate everyone else and become a Hazzard to them and other cats and smaller animals.
