Yeah. Kenji was a genius among cheetahs 🐆. He preferred animals to people, though many staff and vollies played with him. Me too a lot. He would take things out of the house there and pile them up outside. He never purred except for food, some toys and these meerksts. He also visited the leopards outside their enclosures. Here's a video of Kenji selecting his toys from a box to play with. He had 2 other female cheetahs his age to play with (in this same enclosure attached to a house) but they didn't like him... to nerdy 🤓 for them. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jH6VqptqZ5aEiZIfeature=shared

@CheetahWhisperer you speak in past sentence. Is he alive? If so, perhaps it's best to try introducing him to other playful big cats or just animals his size and age with the same spirit. That's what I would have done with a regular cat. Perhaps, the females were older or just too linked together and saw him as an intruder. Females are usually more complex.

@@AnnaInWonderTube 😮💨 He died of kidney failure at about 5 or 6 years old. My cheetahs are at another project and we are taking many precautions to help prevent kidney failure in cheetahs. The project where Kenji died also made changes, but it's still not enough. For instance I don't like the plastic JoJo's that hold water. They set in the South African sun and leach chemicals into it that they drink. The pipes are also suspect and many more things I will do differently to prevent renal failure in cheetahs. Captive cheetahs die more from renal failure than any other disease and takes them young. I rent camp space for my cheetahs at Running Wild Conservation and plan on splintering off on my own and have gathered years of knowledge how to prevent renal failure in cheetahs. At RWC they do have many of the things I would do to prevent renal failure. I plan on implementing many more on my new cheetah project when I have it. Maybe 2-3 years from now. Takes money and time which is always never enough.

To that cheetah these meerkats are relaxing and loved. Kinda like our human relations that sour where a parent loves their children who end up hating them back. Typically there is good in all perceived bad. Besides maybe these meetkats enjoy defending their territory. Gives them some unity and something to do that cures boredom. These are not my animals, but I see little harm in it.

We disagree and that's ok. At this captive breeding project, 100s of people have met abi and her 2 litters of cubs and she's fine. She does not like my beard but after working with her... before meeting the cubs, reaquainting after 6mo apart, she accepted me as you see. Its to give the cubs and mom best care going forward, which they have and are getting. A wild cheetah 🐆 captive or wild in the wilderness does not fair better than Abi and her cubs with 100% survival rates and health. So, from experience, I tame all captive cheetahs so they get the best care. Wild ones get sick and die early because you don't notice it until too late.

That is TRUE! Kenji only purred for food, toys and these meerkats, never for people to include me. He liked these meerkats and visited them a lot for a scratch. Yes, the outreached paw was an attempted be affectionate to his fake meerkats friends. The meerkats want to bite him. I don't think Kenji knew.

You never see people doing this with other large cats, well...I guess before Mr. volker.....I never saw people do this with Cheetahs either......is it something about cheetahs that make their behavior resemble domestic cats? Or is there like 30 cheetahs there but these 3 are considered safer? 3 unique cheetahs or just cheetahs in general can form bonds with humans? Either way.... Mr. Volker is an amazing ambassador for his animals.
@CheetahWhisperer4 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting! What is really cool about cheetahs and any animal that wants to cuddle is that THEY make the decision to snuggle. You can't make an animal snuggle and be happy about it. It has to be their decision. I wanted to show the other side of cheetahs and I succeeded. Most people before this video only saw cheetahs hunting and killing, like that is the only thing cheetahs do. The nature shows could only reveal the raw violent survival behavior of cheetahs and predators. I wasn't the 1st to show the behaviors outside of hunting, but I sure showed more of the affectionate 'cat' side of them outside of hunting.

Firstly this is not my cheetah project in South Africa. It is called Cheetah Experience. I vollied there to get this footage. If you followed or watched my channel, you would know all the questions to your answers. I don't want to explain everything about me and my cheetahs in every video. But, I enjoy answering questions about what I do. At the time of this video, none of the animals or property or cheetah project were owned by me. I did purchase this cheetah, Kenji for Cheetah Experience to avoid him being auctioned off by the previous owner. Gave him to the project and asked for nothing in return. The project focuses on breeding cheetahs and provides cheetahs for other projects. They eventually began rewilding some. The area where this cheetahs you see in the video is a monitoring camp for younger cheetahs and one the owner owned. It is a large area connected to the cheetah camps. The meerkats came to the project as rescues, someone found them on their South African farm, where this project reside(d)s. They have since moved. The cheetahs are acquired from purchases from other breeders in South Africa and mainly by breeding. Why these cheetahs are not in the correct environment was answered above. Some are used for breeding, some sold to other projects and some rewilded. As for me. I was so enthralled by cheetahs 1o years ago that I decided to attempt my own cheetah breeding and rewilding project and now own 4 cheetahs at another cheetah breeding and rewilding project called Running Wild Conservation who focus exclusively on rewilding when possible. I want to do the same and looking for property in South Africa now to do just that. I got my cheetahs from purchasing and successful captive breeding. My channel: www.youtube.com/@CheetahWhisperer

They do not sound anything like I expected 🤨
@CheetahWhisperer5 күн бұрын
I know! It's reported that cheetahs make about 40 different sounds. They have an amazing range of pitches they can make. They even have emotional higher pitched sounds that mean the same, but higher or lower pitch based on the emotional impact it has. For instance, female cheetahs don't normally like other female cheetahs cubs. When my female Kimi sees someone elses cubs from a distance, it's lower grumblings, but when the cubs walk by her enclosure it's all high drama pitched screams... 😱

It's a bit sad as well. These two basically lost their mother after a C-Section operation. She had to heal, but then went to another project, leaving them behind. That is why these cubs became so needy for a motherly surrogate and I was able to have such a affectionate relationship. My cheetah mom raises their cubs to adulthood before removing her. The cubs are not as needy and their mental and physical health are WAY better by feeding off mom. Even C-section cheetah moms can still nurse their cubs. Takes a tame one though to assist and then once healed, the cubs remain with mom. If seen it happen.
