Hello, it's Thursday! Someone shared the inspiration for this quirky fellow on my Discord recently, and I immediately knew I had to make a crochet pattern for him!
Is it just me or does he also look a little bit like a snorlax?
The written pattern for this is available on Etsy and Patreon!
Get access to all my KZbin written patterns on Patreon:
/ complicatedknots
Or post photos of your creatures on instagram:
/ complicatedknots
I also have an Etsy for anyone looking to support the channel, but I do keep most of my patterns free here on KZbin:
complicatedknots.etsy.com
You can also follow me on tiktok now I guess:
/ complicatedknots
US terminology used
All pieces are worked in a continuous spiral unless otherwise indicated.

dec: “Decrease over two stitches”- Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up loop. Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over, pull up loop. Yarn over a third time, and pull through all three loops on hook.

Hi everyone! There is now a part 2 to this video that shows you how realign the head and ears if you encounter any twisting :) You can find it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5nLY5KFe7Sgf7c If you have previously purchased this pattern and would like the updated version that includes this information, please message me on Etsy or Patreon. *** For those of you who are bothered by the crooked tail! I thought it added to the rough charm of this design, but I also understand that it is driving some of you a bit crazy! The crooked tail is what is shown in the video, but if you would prefer a centered tail for your owlbear, just replace these rows of the body: 9. 4[7sc, inc], 4sc, 3sc in 1, 10sc, inc (55) 10. 4[8sc, inc], 5sc, 3sc in 1, 12sc, inc (62) 11. *no change* backloops{62sc} (62) 12. backloops{46sc, dec, 14sc} (61) 13. 45sc, dec, 14sc (60) 14. 45sc, dec, 13sc (59) 15. 45sc, dec, 12sc (58) 16. 18sc, dec, 25sc, dec, 11sc (56) 17. 18sc, dec, 23sc, dec, 11sc (54)

I'm so glad I read this pinned comment because I genuinely thought I had messed up somehow. But now that I know it was intentional I don't mind it and it does add some extra charm. XD But it's also awesome that you give the option to have it centered.

Oh no! It is even more crooked that way! Just finished my head and started attaching the ears and the second ear comes out almostexactly over the tail that way :( I guess I'll try to reorganise the ears rows cause it seems to much for me to redo the body 3rd time

Ok, if anybody ends up in the same pickle as me with 2nd ear almost exactly over the tail while using the above alternative rows 9-17, here is how I solved it up in the owlbears head: (alternative rows 51 - 57) 51. 4sc, 12sc to attach ear 1, 18sc, 12sc to attach ear 2, 8sc (54) 52. 3sc,sc3tog, 8sc, sc3tog, 16sc, sc3tog, 8sc, sc3tog, 7sc (46) 53. 2sc, dec, 8sc, sc3tog, 13sc, sc3tog, 7sc, dec, 4sc, dec (39) STUFF 54. 2sc, sc3tog, 5sc, sc3tog, 12sc, sc3tog, 4sc, sc3tog, 4sc (31) 55. sc, sc3tog, 3sc, sc3tog, 10sc, sc3tog, 2sc, sc3tog, 3sc (23) 56. sc3tog, sc, sc3tog, 8sc, 2sc3tog, 3sc (16) 57. 4ss, sc3tog, 2sc, sc3tog, 4sc and row 58 goes 6dec (6) Hope it helps someone :)

You can do it. :) It's supposed to be kind of like Mr. Bean's Teddy Bear. Well used, a bit thread bare, slightly dirty from being loved and played with. It's also supposed to look hand crafted by "any-parent". So imperfections just add to your particular owlbear's story and personality. ❤️ My 1st fairy dragon has 1 giant arm and 1 normal sized arm. It's still cute, and I can't make another one like it, because it was the first time I ever made limbs, the hands, and only the second time I had tried color changing in a project. Now I have a fairy dragon who can Really put his fist down if it wants to! 😂 I named it Iron-Man...(really lol) Seriously though, even with mistakes they're great records of how you improve, so go ahead and make some amigurumi that may, or may not have some birth defects. :) They grow on you

I originally found this looking for a pattern just to make an owlbear plush. I was thinking of using different yarn and make feathers and make it more realistic, but...now I need this as is! If this is still helpful, buy a cheap pillow and use the stuffing from that! I do this instead of buying stuffing, it’s so much cheaper (a bag of stuffing equal to the amount in the pillow is like $20(au) instead of $5(au)) and way easier to get😊

I love this pattern but omg I have no idea what I’m doing so wrong every time I make it, but I didn’t see the re-alignment video until just now and just keep having the body totally twist around so the ears are in line with the tail??? I’ve made the body three times now and it happens every single time exactly the same way! I count my stitches and mark my beginning stitch every time! I feel like I’m going crazy, I’m glad I have the resources to fix it but I have never given myself so much trouble with a pattern before!
