Having A Go At CAR CAMPING! - Hiking An Isolated Mountain!

A trip to the Monadliath Mountain Range in Scotland for a car camp at Creag Meagaidth and a morning Hike up Geal Charn (Monadliath)
I finished work and went straight up the A9 through Perth and Drumochter. Excited but not sure what to expect I arrived at Creag Meagaidth for 18:30 in the dark. The car park was busy but I settled down to an amazing car camp!
The following morning I woke at 5AM ready for the 30 minute drive to the start point. Once I arrived I began the hike almost straight away crossing a loud and fast flowing river. It was not long before I was greeted with never ending bog. A small path did guide me further up the mountain with views over to smaller peaks. It was featureless however and at times a drag but I reached the summit after over 2 hours of hiking.
Overall an exciting trip away and challenging at times. Not one that will live in the memory book but another wee mountain bagged!

Thanks Pal, Never saw many good pitched for this hike. Too boggy lower down and rocky at the summit. Freezing trip away but still good to visit another mountain in Scotland. ATB Gaz

Nice one Gaz. It's a fine wee Munro, nice wi some snow on it. I'll be doing that more often these days I think, sleeping in ma car or low level camps to get some hills done in the NW. Cannae be ersed carrying camping gear over the hills these days. Unless it's ding dong. 😉

Another brilliant vid Gaz, with some amazing scenery, definitely wouldn't want to be walking through that bog though. Yet again, thanks for taking the time and trouble to film your expeditions, that's a lot of extra work you put in, just watching the scene of you climbing the fence and realising how much time that would take to set up, and of course, having to go back over the fence to get the camera back, then back over it again to continue your journey. Looking forward to more content.

Thanks Susz The style of filming for this trip did make the hike a lot more longer. I’ve took a different approach for my next video. It’s always nice to receive comments like this it means a lot. Completely agree with you Murchie. I had to spend 6 nights in a row for my recent hikes which you’ve seen on Facebook. Unpleasant at the time but it’s worth spending so many nights in the car for the views up a Munro. Enjoyed this wee getaway back in March. ATB Gaz

It might be a 4/10 for your hike rating but good fun to watch. There is no shame in car camping, I had to do it a few times and find it quite comfy with the right bedding and some damn good earplugs.

Yeah I was a little disappointed with the area and this walk was probably my least favourite hike so far. Car camping is slowly becoming very popular with me at the moment and very convenient in the summer months for longer trips away. ATB Gaz
