I owned a Fiat X19 when I lived in Hawaii. Fortunately with 65 hp I never had to outrun McGarrett! Over 50 mph it smoked and spewed oil like James Bond's AM.

I had a 68 Montego MX in burgundy with black vinyl top and a GT 390. Most of the 68 's shown are Park Lanes which were full size cars while the Montego was a mid size. The beautiful style was almost the same other than size. I think the car at 1.42 is actually a Montego, judging by the large front fender marker light.

For a big car got it around nicely - my brother who was on the way to work - saw Jack Lord getting his newspaper in the morning yelled out Book em Danno - Jack Lord raised his newspaper and smiled 😎

One of my fav mercurys....but extra special how it could go from a 4 door to a 2 door and then back to a 4 door in the same case sequence...

The elegance this car exuded is without question. I'm also surprised that Garrett had a 2 door fastback model of it too. I had never seen one.

I know he used one for part of the series and then they retired it and switched to the 4 door.

Hahaha, Jack had a lead foot. Many of the tire squeals were added post-production. There were times you would hear it on a dirt road, lol.
