I’m from ka’u on the big island. My ohana has always seen the night marchers on certain nights. We respect and stay out of their way. We are sensitive to our land and culture. Much Mahalo’s for telling our stories.

Yes, same. Heard the same drums in Waikapu on Maui one night while camping with the family. It was 5 days before the full moon.

My husband and I were collecting recycles from Iao valley early in the evening… it started getting dark then we heard drums… we left fast… there was a couple going in even though we warned them of the night marchers… it was pretty intense… Lived in Hawaiian homes on Maui and above it was a heiau… one night I heard drumming and chanting… Jeff said there’s no one up there but the Spirits… that was scary as well… that was the night I got bed pressed… love ❤️ this channel…

Really enjoyed this one. Loved learning the stories of the gods associated with the area. So surprising to learn about the unique quality of the limu pahapaha and how it can be revived even after it has been dried. A friend of mine from Kaua'i told me that if you stay over night at Polihale you can hear what sounds like babies crying, especially at the end closest to the canyon. Mahalo for sharing this.🤙

This is my favorite story from u so far👍👍 just visited kauai for the first time a couple weeks ago and passed this beach while doing a boat cruise of the na pali coast. We also got to witness a missle launching while on our cruise. Kauai is such a beautiful island as I am from oahu, such a big difference

Oahu is beautiful too, although I think you are attracted to the ruralness of Kauai!

Where I grew up me and my cousins experienced nightmarchers in our family land but it was the other side of the stream which goes down to our private owned bay called puniawa

I remember growing up on Kauai and about the Night Marchers. We did some ghost hunting in high school (I grew up & never will do this again), fun-kind, but we never messed around the Polihale-Mana-Barking Sands area. There are a lot of ghost stories on Kauai, I am glad I never encountered one. On another note, you have a great name, Lopaka! That is my name in English too! (Tito is a diminutive of Lopaka).

One more thing, you got the pidgin down good. The accent and everything. Kauai is losing their pidgin English, whether for good or not.

I've heard tales of either the basement at Ali'Iolani Hale or the Criminal Justice Data Center next door. I overheard a guy who said he used to work at one of the buildings and said when he was told don't go down there at night, he scoffed. He went down one evening for something and opened the door and said it was like the scene from Poltergeist with papers and folders flying around. He quickly closed the door and left, never to go down there again. But, second hand tale from someone. Have you heard something like this?

Yes... many experiences, night marchers yes drums at the top of wiamea canyon, indications or clear signs from nature . . . Dead calm, I park at the canyon and an acacia tree falls right behind me. I'm the only car there. You know nature has something to say! A spirit try push in my chest one night, enlivened dreams such as an elder letting me know at the moment of passing... this happened twice. I lived near a Japanese cemetary and my bed was being shaken one night .... i wasnt the only one who saw it. Mostly it felt like an invitation or initiation. Somehow I knew it was a reveal, something not to fear so much as respect. Witnessed a Kapuna at a ceremony wield the weather. This was mostly on Kauai, but most of my life has been on Hawaii Island. Just landed on Madiera today where so many of our Portuguese friends herald from.
