I've done 2 Chinesium engine swaps on BOTH my 1972 Honda CB100s. One Lifan 200CC OHV and one 250CC OHC Shineray engine. I absolutely LOVE THEM!! If I had known about the 6 speed Loncin, I would've done that swap. Badass bike BTW!! 👍

It's a good thing to have the knowledge of the wiring harness . This is the first time I've seen a wire harness swap to another wire harness compatible and very similar .you made it look so easy . I'm glad you didn't give up on your clutch issue that was something new to me also. I've never owned or worked on a motorcycle but now I could see what I would be getting into. I would be very concerned about zero clearancing the from of that motor. Over time, the expansion and contraction of heat cycling, the vibration, impact shocks, etc. could very well end up cracking the case(s). Nevertheless, very cool project and I hope it works great for you and brings you joy and pride. Thanks for sharing.

I do know that Loncin manufactures the engines that go in BMW 650s and the twins that go in BMW 750s and 800s, among others. To a different spec, obvs.

Clutch plates are usually soaked in oil before they are fitted they can stick together a s Unit . Roll start and slam into 2nd usually frees them .

Thanks for sharing you videos fellow southeast Ohio hawk rider here and I've had my hawk 2 1/2 years now and did all mods available, I've put 7,000+ mile on it so far and love it but I've wanted to do a OHC engine for a while now! My wife has a crf230f and having them side by side I've noticed it can be done, too bad I can't steal hers lol. You saved me a lot of R&D so I appreciate it be safe out there!

It was a cool upgrade and as it breaks in, I'm gaining horsepower but I'm not sure it was worth the expense.but yes a crf230f drivetrain is basically the same as the loncin. In fact I've been swapping over Honda parts lately.

Thanks for the video, I'm swapping a CG 229 (Hawk engine) 4 spd w/ reverse into my Ice Bear PST150 (GY6)Trike, looks like a lil vasoline and a shoehorn will do the trick since you showed me which wires were which. Wish they'd put a wiring diagram in with the engines.

You should change those rear hud bushings, those with rubber and metal are the worst, when the rubber wears out too much the inner metal cylinder can cut the bolts of the rear sproket, it happend to me like 2 times until i changed to ones made of some kind of plastic, that was 3 years ago and have no issues at all and the bolts keep fitting like they were new

What is that clamp looking thing called hold the stock exhaust together. It looks like it has a key. My exhaust is leaking and the looks like the fix.

Nothing is "worth it" in the custom world, but if it's worth it to you is what matters!! I want one of these bikes, maybe get a bit crazy and swap a 250 ninja engine in it or something, I'd like to build a kinda super moto/cafe racer type bike based on one, maybe swap a DR650 engine into it, just depends on what us available when ever if I ever get one, I do have a 200cc China bike, i intended to do something with, but life put that off the stove all together, never mind the back burner!! But I have wanted a DR 650 since about 1993

Yeah the largest big bore I found is 235cc so only an increase of 5cc the best mods for this engine is def going to be the head port and cam.

Question...I bought the zongshen counter balanced 6speed version.same thing basically But my question is: my regulator is exact same as yours with the 3 yellow wire but my yellow wires from engine are only 2..should I just tie 2 of the 3 yellow regulator wired together and plug engine yellow wired into it?? Does it matter what 2 I splice??

No you cannot do that. You may have a DC stator and your system is AC on a hawk

No. The stock tbr uses a AC rectifier and this engine uses a DC system

Did u have the counter balanced hawk before the new motor? I want to do the swap on mine but I think my 22 hawk dlx isn’t the counterbalance version and on the listing for the 6 speed 250 it says it won’t fit without me cutting and welding new mounts so I’m curious if u had the non counterbalance version

I had to cut and weld, as seen in the video. The original Hawk engine was not counter balanced

I never mess with the front sprocket' Try putting the old one back on an play with the rear, like a 49 from a 52 per say, and so forth, would be very noticeable in 6th. But try staying with the rear till it's broken in. Idk

@@JackofAllMasterofNone so true... I use 17F/40R on my Hawk. I always carry a set of tools for every vehicle...it ain't different with the Hawk. So when I do some mixed on/off roading. 17/40 is good. You gotta keep on working the clutch though ahhahaha. But when it gets a bit too hard... I use the 15. I can totally swap it on spot within 5 minutes. So I always keep the 17/40 a bit towards the tight side for me a my big camping bag... So when Im commuting or have someone else with me it doesn't get too tight. The adjustable rear shock helps alot with that. And when I put the 15F withthe40 it gets a lil on the loose side of things... Not loose enough to get noisy or dangerous... And with the 17 not tight enought to get noisy(click click click sound) or dangerous either... There's always a middle ground for everything. As well as my 2 way system.intake and exhaust. Quiet or noisy(performance) anyways the 17/40 is keeping 65mph at 6500 I can push it a lil bit and go faster but I dont see the need. It's pretty confortable smooth ride. Anyways... That 6gear engine would be perfect with the kick start

@@MrRussianAk The problem will be the frame clearance. This CB engine was about the max. I thought about trying a liquid cooled CRF250F or the new 300 but I doubt it would go without major modifications.

It can be but you need a bigger cylinder and adapt the timing chain, you would need to find a compatible cylinder or modify the one it has

@@JackofAllMasterofNone thanks! So it has 2 overdrives. My buddy has a Yamaha xt 225 and the 6 speed makes a big difference when geared properly. Not sure his sprocket sizes but my Brozz 250 top speed is about the same but he can get there faster. I had a rock put a hole in my engine case so I am thinking about upgrading to 6 speed. I love the bike. I purchased a CSC motorcycles tt250 skid plate to prevent future issues. Engine isn't leaking luckily. Hole is in front of a bolt that sandwiches the halves together.

You could have swapped the stator with the engines the stators are the same I upgraded a GY6 49cc scooter and the stock 150 stator connection was different so I did a little looking at the difference between the 150 stator and the 49cc stator the only difference was the connection. So I took off the 150cc stator from the 150cc engine and put the 49cc stator on the 150cc engine and it's still running today I did the project 6 months ago it's a fast little scooty do

It's more powerful throughout the rev range, but still underpowered. Not a lot faster either. Top speed is around 70mph.

You shouldn't need to swap anything out. The engine I bought just had a defective part in it.

The yamaha xg250 clones aka magician 250 aka triker 250 now come with the lincon 6 speed engine. Total cost is about 1800usd for the xg250 clone with lincon engine, sounds like a deal, I might buy one.

The RE250 is good but I found a 4 valve 250cc engine that claims 25hp over stock... the funny part is I did so many name researches that the cg25 is actually renamed buy shineray so then I did some research and shineray engine department and they have a 250cc engine that's the one I'm talking about but it looks way too big for the chassis

That would be a cool engine choice but you would need to study the dimensions carefully. The RE250 had zero clearance as is. I would imagine that the size of the DOHC valve cover area would be an issue with clearance. I did look at this as an option.

GREAT! job - This project was more intense than I would have imagined. I started a thread on chinariders.net about this (liferider) trying to understand what the options were. YOU DID IT! I opted to just mill and port a new Head that I have just started on. Noticed your new engine has what looked like a EGR port on the new engine and it is on the new head that I ordered from Brozz250.com. My Hawk DLX does not have this machined. Do I just cap it off or should I do more? any help? Subscribed and look forward to more...

It comes on the Loncin LX250GY-3(SX2). It is also basically the same engine that is used in South America on one of the Zanella dualsport bikes.
