So he will skate. He's the Freestyler So-Cal deserves, but not the one it needs right now. He became the street skater we needed him to be. So, we'll lurk him, because he can take it. Because he IS our hero. He's a silent shredder. A watchful professional. A Darkslider.

those made me a skater ^^ i got sooooo much shit for freestyling from others.... until i showed them what i was attempting.... Always had a mentality, skating is not about what you know or can do.... its how you feel when doing it is what matters.... i had NO TALENT, everything i learned was hard work... but loved every second of it!

@@shinytanzanite8980 In the episode with Andy, he asked Tony to send a video/question to Rodney about a trick he was trying to learn. If Andy had skated with Rodney before, I'm sure they would have exchanged some sort of contact information. Seems unlikely to me that they have met each other in person, that is before EP 162 at least.

I once met Rodney Mullen at the University of Virginia. I was a 36 yr old college student, lifelong skater punk, in a room full of young 20-something medical students. I skated there from my house about 2 miles away. After his presentation we chatted and he signed my board. They say 'never meet your heroes,' to which I say, "Never meet your heroes, unless your hero is Rodney Mullen. Always meet Rodney Mullen." He is one of the nicest, sincerest, and genuine, people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Thanks for asking that because it made it into this podcast! It's awesome to be remembered like that. When Green Day first came out they played a tiny club downtown Vancouver called the Nappy Dugout. Held less than 200 people. My friend asked them to play a song but their set was over and they told him to go to a bigger club they were playing soon. My friend was underage so he said he couldn't go. The next time they came to town was after they blew up. Lollapalooza. Billy Joe looks at the crowd and says "This doesn't look like the Nappy Dugout", then proceeded to play my friend's request. Funny thing is he didn't hear that because he was outside the fence with another couple friends because they couldn't get tickets and were trying to find a quiet spot to jump the fence so I was the only person in the whole place who understood what he was talking about.

When I was 5 years old, my older brother brought home the vhs tape of Rodney vs. Daewon Round 2. This was my first exposure to skateboarders and I remember seeing Rodney Mullen and just thinking, this guy is my hero! The shows, the skate style, the song choice; t was all awesome to me! Skating has been an in and out part of my life but no matter what, anytime I was asked who my favorite athlete was, the answer was always Rodney! It’s crazy to think that I’m 28 now and this man is still out here demanding admiration. It’s hard to put into words how much this man impacted my life. Not that I did anything worthy of note, but I remember at that age being introduced to his style and person and having that impact the way that I thought I could be; different, exceptional, humble, ma(genius). I am not those things, but Rodney was my introduction to this and every time I see him, I resonate on the same frequency as him and the 5 year old me and I almost feel tears as in reminded of how I was introduced to this beautiful world of skateboarding. Thank you guys for pulling him by the ears till he agreed to be on camera for these interviews!

It's so incredible to see the 2 or maybe 3 worlds of skating come together and talk about their experiences. I never had that growing up. It was like bloods and crips, skiers and snowboarders, street and vert just never mixed. I hope the youth can truly see the deeper meaning behind this episode. So badass

Skateboarding legends digging through memories and having fun the entire episode... A proof that skateboarding is not a sport nor lifestyle but state of mind. Thanks guys for bringing modern skateboarding to us and for staying true to who you are. This episode was a joy to watch and one of the best videos about skateboarding I've seen recently. It's truly awesome to hear that Mullen can skate again :')

I live in Rodney's home town and I gotta say, he's left an impact. The skate culture here is so great and his first ever sponseres is the local skateshop for most of us here. It's crazy to think about my proximity to such a huge legend. Much love Tony And Wolf ❤

I'm 32 and JUST found my old board from high-school. Deck is pretty rough but the trucks, wheels & bearings are still good. It's been 15 years too long since I last threw down on it, so I hit my local skate shop for a new deck today. Wish me luck fellas because the old man's oit of retirement 🤙😂

Rodney is Legend. Please put this man on the show more often. Y'all are also legends and there's no discrediting that. Good God Look what you gentleman have created and the lives you have impacted. I don't even skate, I've always been terrible but this podcast is inspiring me to get a board and teach myself to ride at 24 years old! Love y'all. Rodney Everytime you speak I genuinely am transfixed. Love your person and your soul.

I just started skating in January, but as soon as I saw Rodney for the first time I had an immense respect for him. It's hard not to have a special appreciation for someone who innovated something that possibly no one else would have. couldn't imagine the anger I'd feel if he weren't getting the respect he deserves

I'm 48 and have become disabled by fibromyalgia and the resulting depression from not being able to do the things I used to. Or anything I enjoy anymore. So I can relate and I am truly happy you guys still are able to do what you love so much. You've been an inspiration to me for 40 years. Ever since I found my inner punk kid skater that I still hold dear today. Thank you legends! BTW my last girlfriend's mom, Mimi, told me she was your accountant for many years lol.
