I'm thinking Lilith who we know loved and thrived in hell began to see Lucifer in negative light or as weak because he struggles to respect hell. We know in the first episode Charlie said she "adapted or loved hell" while Lucifer "could only see the negative side of hell and became sad". Due to those differences I wonder if she began to isolate Charlie from him more and more because she knew how alike Lucifer and Charlie are.
@butecodesentina176610 ай бұрын
most people seem to miss that Charlie says "since thei split" so probably she glew up with her mother mostly, and the photos on lucifer workshop corroborate with that (in all but one of then wee see charlie as a litle kid, so that was wen he still had contact with her)

I'm just so delighted to see how much Lucifer actually cares about Charlie. Like, we assumed from the pilot that he was a neglectful parent figure - and how Charlie mostly leans towards Lilith. So I love how they showed the reconciliation between her and her father instead. It hits harder. Plus, it's Jeremy Jordan bro.
@anitaremenarova666210 ай бұрын
The resolution seems a little cheap given the pilot is canon but hey, can't exactly be mad at a guy that talented.
@chere1009 ай бұрын
I don't even see any incongruencies from the pilot to now. For example, assuming Luci was neglectful was just that. An assumption (that I didn't have). There wasn't enough information in the pilot to draw conclusions on what Charlie's mom and dad were like, or to really fully know how their relationship with eachother was like. What we got from the pilot is that Charlie called her mom, so she feels/hopes she can talk to her. And that her dad said something, but we don't know what or why. Like, he could have said something Charlie interpreted one way and he meant another. 🤷♀
@anitaremenarova66629 ай бұрын
@@chere100 "I think dad was right about me" Plus the ominous shadow figure behind Charlie in the opening song strongly suggest he was originally meant to be a dlckhead. Idk how she could interpret him just being a recluse to be this antagonistic towards her otherwise. From the opening sequence of episode 1 we get a completely different story with Charlie having a completely positive outlook towards her dad. I think it's clear this was simply changed in the many years it took for this show to come out which is fine but also confusing with the pilot being mostly canon.
@chere1009 ай бұрын
@@anitaremenarova6662 All the figures in the opening song were shadowy. Including herself. It's probably the part with her singing about being a failure with her dad behind her that gave the negative impression, but that can mean it's her own internalized problem (like wanting to impress him, looking up to him but not thinking herself good enough, etc), not that her dad is somehow bad. And yeah, she said "I think dad was right about me", but as I said, we have no idea what that means or what was said. It seems from the way she said it that it's something she interrupted negatively, but since we didn't get any more info at that time, we can't actually figure out what that ultimately means (then). But if you put in the context of the information we now have, we know that her dad is socially awkward (with his daughter), he's depressed, and he feels hopeless. He is for some reason separated from his wife, and pictures imply he might not have been closely involved the entire time when Charlie was growing up (possibly because Lilith took her away). He's kind of given up, and he's in some way prideful (Sin of Pride). I think he probably said something that hurt Charlie, but he probably didn't mean to hurt her. You know, like when he was kind of doing the I told you so brag when Alastor was attacking those guys after Mimzy. And Charlie got upset, "why can he believe in me but my own dad can't?" And you can see Luci's face fall. He doesn't want to be bad or seen in a bad light by his daughter, he's just kind of... bad at daddying.

I really like how they didn't portray Lucifer as like the typical top dog, he just seems like a guy who happens to be in power, it's kinda like Tom Ellis' Lucifer, seems like an ordinary nonchalant guy with glimpses of his true power showing.

To me it makes sense why Charlie despite possibly being one of the most powerful beings in he'll, never shows her power and isn't an overlord or something. Because Lucifer is the same way, passive but not weak. It's also important to keep in mind that there's just so much of an experienced difference between him and his daughter. In episode one we do know that Lucifer has "fought for hell" before. He is the one that struck the deal that ensured only the Sinners get executed with Lute the female angel kinda mockingly told Charlie. "How does it feel knowing your Dad is the reason that is keeping an Exorcist blade from you and your hellborn kind." Lucifer doesn't really have a connection to the sinners at all, gotta remember they are technically all the children of Adam and Eve. Lilith and Charlie are not related to anyone else, but they are the rulers of Hell and Sinners are just "crappy people from earth" that just get stuck in hell as punishment so he probably only vaguely cares about the actual hellborn demons like the ones in Helluva Boss.

@@vominomiYou made a lot of good points here. :) Some I hadn't really thought about. The funny thing about Lucifer's shortness is that surely he's in complete control of how he presents himself physically/visually (we see Asmodeus, a deadly sin, completely alter his height/size at will to be closer to Fizz's), so surely Lucifer could do the same easily)... And yet he stays himself... short. And he could care less what anyone thinks about that, even when his (ex)wife & daughter tower over him. And like you pointed out, he never seemed to feel threatened by _anything_ that happened, even looked down on Alastor's display like it was nothing. While he tries to hide it behind a smile, Alastor _does_ care what others think of him, has a serious need to feel respected, & interactions with the highest echelons of power probably knocks him down several pegs internally, which pisses him off. Have you noticed Alastor is more angry whenever Lucifer is near Charlie which is odd because if he is really on Lilith leash then why would he get upset over that. Also remember he watched Charlie performance on the television of which is something he never do. There is possibility there is a connection between Alastor and Charlie that we don’t know of.

I think his version of “fighting” for Charlie is keeping her away from the entities who hurt him. Not fighting as in battling, but fighting to keep her away from the state he is in, and has been in for years.

This really asks the question, what is it that Lilith did to keep Lucifer and Charlie from having a better relationship or did they already divorce at this point in time. Also the implication in the Pilot really made it seem like Lucifer was much harsher towards her daughter since Charlie said her father thought she was a failure.
@Khotgor10 ай бұрын
To be fair, the Pilot could be 'outdated' with its lore. IIRC, even with Helluva Boss that started season 1 much closer to its pilot in terms of time, they changed the lore of Blitz having two sisters, instead changing one to be his mother. Former lore on the Pilot was potentially changed after a good few years had past to the point where some elements are going to be changed/lost in the official seasons.

my theory is that alastor 7 years ago sold his soul to eve and at that same time lilith got scared that eve was gonna attack her and in fear of that she left 7 years ago so 7 years ago must have been the time period eve secretly executed part of her plans to make a contract with alastor and to scare away lilith

I know Lucifer is implied to have been very out of the picture, but he WAS protecting Charlie this whole time bc remember in episode one, the Exterminator Angel said that Lucifer made a deal with them that Hell-born citizens of Hell were to be spared during extermination - and idk how much Lucifer specifically cares about the imps, but he had to have mainly made that deal to protect Charlie specifically

You're forgetting lucifer is just a fallen Angel. Barely even evil. And you forgot the very first scene where lucifer was shown as a dreamer trying to persuade heaven.
@troikas335310 ай бұрын
Charlie wants to help people because she believes in their potential to be better and that they deserve a happy life. As the princess of hell she feels she can help give them that. It's really that simple, just unconditional empathy. It's kind of a refreshing perspective honestly.
@Yerrenica10 ай бұрын
I always get so surprised when people get surprised by Lucifer's personality. Like, in the beginning of ep1 it was clearly stated that he was a dreamer, this type of personality totally suits him. He's never been evil.

I’m thinking maybe Lilith and Alastor have known each other long before he came to hell. If Lucifer was able to come to Lilith way back when, who’s to say Lilith couldn’t have done the same with Alastor back when he was still alive? It would explain why he was able to gain such a leg up over the other 1930’s Overlords, at the time. Not sure about the 7 years though.

I think people are way too harsh on Luci, you gotta think he's been absolutely crushed and destroyed and lost everything he had faith in, he's a broken man with his confidence shredded, he's put plenty in place to protect Charlie in his absence he's just afraid of letting go of his pride and accepting his failures and working past them, but this episode was a stepping stone for him, I love his character, he's very human and relatable, and I think more than anything he's desperate to be apart of Charlie's life he just doesn't know how to ask.

I wonder what Alastor's deal is. We know now that he's working under someone,but we don't yet know precisely who that may be. My gut says Lilith, but I'm also assuming the events of the pilot are entirely canon, which may not necessarily be the case.

Gotta love Alastor and Lucifer's banter in this episode! Especially the part where Alastor decided to hit him where it would HURT THE MOST -- acting like the dad who stepped up (and that *REALLY* got under Lucifer's skin, to the point he drew out his gold fiddle 😂). Lucifer: Ha ha ha! Not a very good name for a hotel! 😈 Alastor: Ha HA! ...Fuck you. 😈💢

11:44 I think what he meant by this was because he's the reason Charlie, Lilith, and the other Hellborn (not including Sinners bc they're human souls) are pardoned from being exterminated. He had to negotiate with the Angels to spare his family and keep them safe

About Lilith's face, you can see it in Lucy's room when Charlie is calling him. But yeah, apparently they split 7 years ago and she disappeared? What's up with that? That might also have something to do with Alastor's disappearance in the same timeframe, as Lilith probably has him as her personal Overlord.

Despite Alastor being a demon he’s one of the few who doesn’t CONSTANTLY swear. Perhaps it’s because he believes it’s beneath him and not seen as classy, and he only does it when he’s genuinely mad or upset which isn’t often. I kinda like that about his character.

I absolutely love how they depicted Lucifer. Charlie and Lucifer's song absolutely blew me away with how much the voice actors embody these roles. They passionately put their heart and soul into said songs and vocals. I absolutely love how they depicted Lucifer as a caring and loving father who, albeit he has trouble connecting to his daughter and is a bit of an anti-social goofball, still loves Charlie no matter what and wants to believe in her vision. Still, he sees himself in her and doesn't want her crushed under Heaven's laws/ruthlessness. But despite how scared he is and how much of a failure he feels like, his daughter brings out his hope once again and sees his dream live on through her vision to redeem sinners, so of course, he'd be willing to do anything he can to support her and try and convince Heaven sinners can be redeemed. Jeremy Jordan and Erika Henningson both did a phenomenal job in this episode. I also love how Alastor is the ultimate troll in this show as he already SAVAGELY roasted Vox, and the fact he has the guts to roast Lucifer in front of his own daughter (who seemingly goes along with it) indeed shows how little f***s Alastor gives. I also love that Alastor hasn't sworn this entire time in the show or in the pilot, yet he saved his first F-bomb and said it directly to the King of Hell, Lucifer, himself; he is just a complete legend! I do wonder who Alastor is under the control of. A lot of people, including myself, have theorised that Alastor is taking orders from Lilith (Charlie's mom), who may have sent Alastor to act as a guardian to protect Charlie and keep her dream alive; after all, both Alastor and Lilith are said to have been seen in 7 years. Yet, Alastor suddenly shows up out of nowhere to help, which seems way too coincidental.

Charlie from the pilot episode established that she calls her mother Lilith more often and openly talks about trying to make the hotel work. After the failed news broadcast, Charlie called Lilith asking for advice and guess who shows up? Alastor who says he made it his goal to help Charlie, he may have another motive underneath. But he's actively trying to make sure the Hotel gets up and running, so I think it is Lilith who told him to do it. He's a guy trying to take over the top dogs of Hell, but probably failed and sold his soul to someone really high up.
