I did 35 sessions at Mayo Clinic, ending this past May 2. Other than taking up 35+ days of your life the process is not too bad. I have photos of me in my “hood,” can’t see how to add them. So far the treatments have rectified my bladder cystitis. The Mayo team was awesome.

Did they not inject a protective gel between your prostate and rectum before radiation therapy to your prostate?

No, they didn't. I had read that was commonly done and I asked about before beginning radiation treatment but was told because of their precise targeting with the proton beam it wasn't necessary. But in my case they had to irradiate a larger margin around the prostate so I am not sure how much it would have helped.

Is your radiation proctitis causing you bleeding ? If so how have you been controlling that ? My mom has tried so many things and nothing works

I have claustrophobia, so that’s a no for me. I hope I never need this treatment.

Just take food grade hydrogen peroxide.
