Iceberg has always been a favorite of mine! He was a snow trooper who came with no snow equipment! All my friends had sleds, snowboards, skis, etc. I just showed up in the winter and slid down a hill on a shovel! He must be pretty badass to get dropped into a below zero environment with only a machine gun, right?

I guess they attempted to compensate the lack of accessories with the paint apps which are pretty impressive. But then look at Stalker v2, holy cow! That is a top figure in all aspects.

I rarely took my Joe's outside. I did grow up in an area that got a decent amount of snow and I loved the snow troopers as much as the desert and jungle troopers as well.

This was the first ever G.I.Joe toy I saw and was able to hold. We as kids loved to play with Mountain Climbers. Not because we lived at the foot of Mt. Makiling in the Philippines, but because we had a tree in our neighborhood that we pretended to be a the side of a cliff. We made the Joes climb up with grappling hooks we made, while Cobra guys let rocks or boulders roll down. I was so happy when I got a ROCK VIPER.

Canadian here. My only arctic figure was Frostbite and at the the time I wished he had some media appearances. I did like arctic related episodes, Snowjob. I liked the Snow-Serpents a lot. I never played with my Joes in the snow (or rarely outside at all). It's either inconvenient to play with mittens, or your fingers will freeze. And the plastic gets brittle in the cold.

I live in cali, and never get snow, without driving for an hour and a half to the mountains, so I didn't get many arctic figures as a kid, but I had this one, and he got a lot of playtime.... great fig...

I grew up in north central PA where it snowed from around Thanksgiving through April, so snow was a major part of my Joes. I would build ice caves for my Joes to play in, which explains all the rusty screws on my childhood ones that are still around. I like Iceberg's sculpt, but not his accessory. After Snow Job and the Snow Serpent, he was really lacking. 1986 is one of the stronger years for figures and his lack of accessories was a strike against him.

Funny enough I grew up in Tennessee but as a kid I loved the artic Joes. Until this day snow job is the only original Joe I still have from my childhood. Always loved the white Troopers Storm Shadow too.

Another Canadian here! Winters full of snow, snowstorms and ice up here in Quebec. I always liked snow themes for figures, was really fun to play with them in real snow, epic ice battles! I always liked Iceberg and his general look. Although Snowjob was way better equipped with tones of cool winter gear, my favorite Joe winter figure was still Iceberg. Great review! Good job man.

I'm glad you covered this one, HoodedCobraCommander788 ! I bought this figure growing up.I played with this figure with styrofoam for snow, lol. I think he's the only one of the arctic figures I owned. I agree that he needed a few more accessories. I think maybe a light green backpack and maybe Snow Serpent's snow shoes from the Battle packs or a set of Snow Job's skis and backpack. I also agree that the Battle Pack's dark gray version of Iceberg's rifle looks better. I'm surprised that the white rifle wasn't made the Battle Pack version.

Iceberg! Right ahead! (Nailed it). Growing up in Minnesota, I remember Snowjob and Blizzard as two standouts in my collection. However maybe not necessarily my favorite Joe's. But I did like them more then some others.

I too am Canadian and we got a decent amount of snow in the winter, but never played with action figures in the snow. Always made snow forts and quinzee's and sledded. Never a good skater nor skier. My brother had Snowjob and I though he was the bee's knees with all his accessories that he could carry on his backpack. In the summer, living on the coast, we swam in the Atlantic ocean and in the lakes around our city. Again, never played with figures in the water, except maybe a backyard pool or something. Now swimming, I loved my swim mask and swim fins and two of my favorite figures were Torpedo and Cobra Eels and when I had a son I bought him the Navy Assault Unit three pack of divers, with Torpedo, Wetsuit and Shipwreck, so I had an affinity for diving action figures. However, my first exposure to GiJoe was the HAL with Grand Slam and my preference for GiJoe figures was always ones that had removable helmets/headgear.

HCC, I love all of the arctic troopers. Living in Arizona, Dusty is definitely a favorite. Like Iceberg, I do not like the heat. Our 115 degree days are a bit much. I favor my arctic Joes over the rest.

i grew up in south FL and northwest Arkansas. I didn't have a preference with the figures. mostly i got my figures for my birthday and christmas so i didn't have much say until i started doing odd jobs on the weekend. Moving lawns, collecting glass bottles, recycling cans the usual stuff a kid does for money. Once I started buying my own I went with the figures that came with cool accessories or designs. The first one i bought with my own money was Footloose for $.99 at K-mart. Then Tomax/Xamot, Ripper and a battle accessories pack of that same year. The next several purchases were Fast Draw, Law and order and Techno-viper. In 1988 I was on my own when it came to getting figures. I still went for what looked good. G.I. Joe did have an influence on my decision in joining the service. I was in the navy, but the naval figures didn't play a part in that decision. Iceberg was one of those that i wasn't interested in because of his lack of accessories. snow shoes, skis, or backpack. something to help him out. overall he's not bad, just lacking in gear.

The only Joe I took outside was Ace, so I could toss him around with the parachute. Then I lost his helmet. Never again could I bear that heartache... As a New Englander, I didn’t really have a seasonal preference, but would have loved an Autumn soldier. Heck yeah, Autumn!

I was a child of the Northeast and Iceberg was my Joe squad commander during December thru March. He absolutely enhanced playtime after fresh snowfall. And yes, the figure should have come with a backpack. What arctic personnel marches around a hostile environment without survival gear strapped to his back?

My toy preferences were not at all dependent on my real world environment (or perhaps I was drawn to fantasy alternatives). The real world environment was more inspiring for non-toy play. I've always lived in Southern California, where we don't really have seasons, and some of my favorite Joe figures were characters whose normal locales would be anywhere but here - snowy Snowjob, swampy Zartan, right behind you wherever you are slitting your throaty Storm Shadow.

I've never thought about before, but yeah, my childhood collection was shaped by my environment. Lots of camo heavy guys, but also a lot of pilots and air craft (nearby air force base). My Dad was a Marine in the late 60's to early 70's and that influenced what I got as well. Amongst my childhood friends and myself there were no arctic troopers, a Snow Cat that was painted black, and just a couple of Navy inspired toys.

I think this wave was the Transformers movie wave for G. I. Joe. We had a new(old) leader, new laser trooper, new communications guy, new big tank guy, new helicopter pilot, new commando, new s.e.a.l., new marine, new medic, and.... new Roadblock? This was probably the biggest new guy line up to not just take the first, but second and some third wave troops over in wave . Iceberg, however is no Snowjob, just as much as I like Beachhead, he's not Snake Eyes.

I am from Upstate NY too! I spent the first six years of my life in the Albany area. Iceberg was my first G.I. Joe action figure, my parents got him for me since I really like the winter season. As a kid, it never bothred me too much that apart from his M60 machine gun, he had no other accessories. I would give him stuff from Battle Accessory Pack #5, and later the skis and crampons from Blizzard version 1. Since I got into customizing my G.I. Joe action figures, I am working on a new version of Iceberg with more accessories and a new paint scheme. I also want to make a custom version of his Battle Crops action figure as well, since the artwork on the packaging has him wearing a green ski mask and gloves, but the figure has a yellow mask and gloves for some reason.
