Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Now if you know what you're worth then go out and get what you're worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain't you! You're better than that!

The Oscars definitely hate this speech, it's basically telling people that it's no-one else's fault but their own for where they are in life and that doesn't fit Hollywood's agenda of 'The Message' or diversity politics. They can't relate to meritocracy and good old fashioned toughness/masculinity.

Good advice, REAL advice, is just good advice. It doesn't matter where it came from. Ever heard the quote, "Heroism is endurance, For just a moment more"? Ever know who said it? It was a guy named George F. Kennan. Who's that? I dunno, it doesn't matter to me, it's straight facts, and facts don't give two shits who states them, because real is real. Inspiration can come from anywhere and yeah, it kinda sucks that we don't always get it from thise we expect it from, but if you do get it, are you gonna turn it down just because it came from someone you didn't expect it from? I hope not... ✌

You have to live that kinda life in order to understand…and that’s why Stallone can deliver these type of speeches with such conviction because he was that man living in the struggle back then when life was knocking him down… And in Over the Top he delivered some good ass motivational speeches too about being a man and doing shit for yourself because as he said “The world meet NOBODY halfway”

"You must be willing to take a hit." That part always hits the hardest, because it's the truth. We're all scared of putting ourselves out there. We're scared of the world, of the people, the negativity. But it's necessary to beat that fear, because that's what's really keeping you down. Be willing to take risks, take punches, learn from your mistakes if you fail. The more hits you take, the less they will hurt. Everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of your fear.

She saved my life I was living on my office floor estranged from my family because my ex made me pick her and my kids or my family. I kept paying her bills and couldn’t afford a place I was ready to not wake up. I listened to the last line “don’t forget to visit your mother” I called my mom and told her I needed her and I was driving over right then. I literally hugged my mom for the first time in years and collapsed crying on her she’s 5’ I’m 5’9” she didn’t even move. I agree, in 2006 I was at a crossroads in my life as well, moving on from my job at a lumber yard and taking community college classes. It was new territory and I knew at times it was going to challenge me, however no matter what happened good or bad I never gave up. Hearing Rocky say these things to his son really resonated with me and where I was at the time.

I know probably nobody is going to read this, but I want to let it out anyway. This year has been by far the roughest year I have ever been through, just like has been very rough for almost anyone. I really have felt like giving up on many of the things that are worth pursuing , I started to lose hope that my life would ever improve. Then I came across this scene, it helped me regain my strength. It reminded me that this pain is only temporary, that things can get better if I am willing to fight for them. It helped me stand up again, even after all the times I have been kicked down. Thank You, Stallone, for helping me and so many others regain confidence in ourselves and for reminding us that suffering and hard times, are just a part of life.

I know this is a cliche.. But I saw this movie and this speech a couple of years ago. I was in a very dark place. I didn't believe in myself and the whole world was my mountain. I grew up as a confident kid, and out of nowhere I was strucked down. It was not worth it anymore. Today, I'm a lawyer, I have the best friends in the world, but most importantly, I wake up happy. Every day. I still remember watching this speech. The world really is a horrible place, but you need to take the hits. If you're one of the ones struggling.. I'll give you my word.. It gets better!

Tommy, this gave me chills. The first time I heard this speech was back in 2011 when I was in the 8th grade; my sister sent this video to me. I too was going through a rough patch in life, my parents had split up, grandpa died, physical and mental abuse, suicidal thoughts, transferring schools and leaving all my friends behind, it was all a lot to take in within the span of a year; for a 13 year old. I had another depression phase back in 2017-2018 and at the end of 2020. Your statement, “I wake up happy” makes me emotional, I’m so happy for you. I too can say I’m on that path and I no longer am depressed and suicidal. It’s great. I’m on the path to becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner as I would like to be someone’s push against their mountains, as I too know how it feels to struggle with mental health. I would struggle in silence and no one had a clue. My parents were raised in a place where they had to be tough, which would cause them to bottle their feelings up; I did the same. Now I’m brutally honest with my feelings, but I feel relief and freedom that I say what is on my chest. This generational curse ends with me, and I’m willing to help other’s break theirs as well.

Over analysing things is a awful part of life, but you'll run in to people that you love and believe in. I lost my son June 4th 2022. I can't tell you how many times I sent this to my son. When my son get into a dark spot I would send this to him the part that really hits home is when Rocky yells at him and tells him that's what cowards do and that ain't you you're better than that.. the part where he says you're my son I'm always going to love you. He's my son I will always love him rest in peace Ray I love you pal
