I retired after 21 years in the Army, all as an infantryman. Numerous tours to the Middle East and Africa. Even after 14 years of leaving my beloved career, I seem to miss it every day. I have listened to this speech over 50 times. Especially on those dark days where I can't get my head quite right. And every time I listen to it, it helps me remember why I joined. What I joined for. And to be proud of the job that we had done. In today's society, where it is not fashionable to be proud of America and to be patriotic, I can hold my head up and stand on the principles that were instilled in me as a young man. All gung hoe and eager to get on every deployment or school possible. I look back and think to myself, is this the same America that my brothers died for? To all who have served and that are currently serving, I say thank you for your service. God bless every one of you and your families. It's a hell of a ride and it goes way too fast. But I was later invited to a beach retreat with almost all 13 of them(we were homeschooled), and we all shared a beach house. I noticed that everyone, even the boys, made their beds. I had known all these kids all my life, and none of them ever made their beds. But now, just a week after we graduated, they all started to. My mom was smiling so brightly when I told her about it. Such simple actions can change the world, and such simple words can motivate some of the most subborn people I have ever known.

I have heard this man’s fantastic speech many times, and each time it overwhelms me. His message, his words, his cadence are certainly profound. I swear, if this man were my boss or had been my coach, I would run through a brick wall for him.

I respect this man so much, what he accomplished form his country is incredible. The man did not hesitate for a second to criticize Trump and to uphold his values, he faced his president because he doesn't back down from bullies.

I made a change without any training or degrees that a lot of other people have that i don’t have and always said that I didn’t need because my ancestors blessed me of the ways of the old and old fashioned. I was happy and proud I learned from them. I learned what it means to have a heart and courage and bravery and leadership by listening to the stories that mattered the most to me and I can’t and won’t ever forget those stories

I’ve still got a long way to go, but since watching this video 2 weeks ago now, I have made my bed every single morning without fail. It takes time to make a real change in your life, but bit by bit we will make it. It’s amazing what a speech from someone you have no connection with can do. Thank you.

A very important person in my life that I was fortunate enough to meet when he made it home from the MARINE'S told me to never let anything stand in your way don't ever be scared of anything or anyone and it doesn't matter how many of them that there is fear no one or anything. And whatever obstacles that are set before you, you either climb over it go under it or around it. If that doesn't work you have to go right through the middle of it whatever it takes to get to the the other side of it. I took those words with me and made it a point to make sure that I remembered them and used it as a tool to get through a lot rough things in life. So if you are reading this young man It was your father that instilled those words in my mind. You should be very proud.

There are so many people who helped with the war on terror and are still continuing to serve. Marcus Luttrell is another amazing speaker he was a Navy SEAL who made a difference. Me a person who wants to serve in the U.S. Navy is very motovated after hearing this (Top Gun also helped and battleship) these people who served after 9/11/01 were amazing and will be remembered for centuries for their heroism. This is the speaker everybody wants. God Bless America 🇺🇸

Amazing speech I was in the uk military at 16 the lessons learned in terms of discipline, determination and assertiveness has carried me through tough times and my career even since. The military is a lesson in life more than anything. Any time things are hard I always go back to it don’t let it defeat you you can always win

Liked your talk...brings back memories of basic training and low crawling in the Louisiana sand at 110 degrees. By accident, I had the right attitude . (18 yrs old) Then 1 year in Officer/Aviator school. (Twice as long as Seal school?) For some reason, the outragous demands didn't bother me., but a very large percentage resigne . You described it well. Barracks surprisingly empty at the end of first phase. Made me appreciate the significance of "just keep paddling"! Phase 2 (shared with Marine students) ended a very challeging year with wings awarded and a pride of accomplishment for the remaing few. Changed my life. Thanks... Gary H, combat vet, 1Lt
