I was living in Finland the mid 70’s. Access to music was limited for me. I looked forward to going to the railroad station and buying the latest New Musical Express. I remember these guys were everywhere. I was from California. Maybe 22 years old and out traveling. Years later this song comes along and many years later I learn about the song, Brian, and think life goes full circle some time. And of course it’s a beautiful song. If you’ve ever played music putting it out there like that isn’t easy. Baring your sole. Brian really sticks his neck out it seems to me. The group really. Good stuff.

GE Smith, the house band leader for SNL gave an interview in which he recalled a story from this exact song. At the last moment before going live they could not find the percussionist. The person who plays that essential main beat that the songs opens with. Totally critical to the song! GE flagged over a friend who was a great drummer. Brian Ferry’s drummer jumped up and did the percussion part which he knew. The friend you see briefly in this video came in and did the simple drum part. Amazing performance. Incredible song.
