My hunting range with a recurve is 20 and under (which I do all instinct) - 30, 40 is target recurve range (which I am totally comfortable shooting but that’s all gap shooting, not instinct) - I’ll take you to the range and launch some long ones for you

You gotta have thick skin to be on social media. Long shots with a traditional bow are over-rated and many times result in disaster, no matter how good of a shot someone is, due to slow arrow speed and animal reaction time. Fred Bear admitted to killing three different animals that were struck on the opposite side he was aiming at, completely turning 180 degrees before the arrow arrived. If a deer reacts to the sound of the bow, it can totally duck an arrow at 20 yards from a traditional bow to the point where you would have to aim under it to make a killing shot. Other times, they may not react at all and stand there like a statue till the arrow arrives. Most of the time, they react.
