I eventually decided to quit the project as I sold my S4m in favor of laptops, but I was since then kept in contact with Larry and helped him on some of his design decisions on this PSU. Finally, I saw it in flesh, and in one of my most favorite case. Good job Josh and Larry.

Another source for great selection of external PSUs are transformers for fluorescent or LED lights, easy to get hold of and often outputs much more power than your regular AC DC brick. You will still need a pico PSU or similar but the problem for a power hungry system is getting enough amps from a external 12v PSU. Of course you will still have a external power brick but for some builds you can not get around that fact. Nice review of that HDPlex unit.

What a beauty. Definitely further cements my decision and future decisions to stay mini itx. There are fewer and fewer reasons to consider larger PC builds. HD plex has done it again. The HD plex 300 was a game changer for me. This new combo is insane. The quality is top notch as well. You couldn't ask for more. How viable is it to use the 400 AC externally in lieu of of my Alienware brick? Doesn't seem like I could use this internally for my S4 mini C.

I own a HD Plex 160, but all of its connectors (24 Pin, 4 Pin etc) seem to be too big to fit the ports well. Once I plug them into the ports, it's impossible to remove them by hand, instead I have to use a flat head screwdriver to lever them out, which in the end damages both Mainboard and cables. Because of that experience I didn't buy any other product from them.
@kartaloktay5 жыл бұрын
@@Jantcha I think some manufacturers just get cheap and low quality connectors.
