I had been wondering why Charlie doesn't seem distressed by the suffering of the passerby in her episode 1 song, or make any attempt to help them. Finding out that sinners respawn/regenerate explains it - she knows they'll all recover and that they're used to it, as awful as that is, so she's focused on saving them from permadeath. (We don't see many hellborn demons in this show and I'm very curious about whether Charlie thinks of them as her people as well. Sinners are a fraction of the population, confined to one overcrowded area.)

There's some straightforward "why is the new kid getting all the attention and praise...when he's probably a metaphorical snake as well as a literal one?!" Then there's the fact that Angel feels like he's not going to be ALLOWED to fully change, even if he wanted to (as you already saw hints of in 'Poison'). And then again there's that SCRIPT he just had to read! As another commenter pointed out, that must have seemed like it was specifically calling him out...and Charlie didn't bother to consult him on it, even though he would be the expert on how those temptations actually work!

The thing about the script that Angel and Pentious read is that it vilified everything that Angel is. He does drugs and has certainly had much sexual intercourse before marriage. Yes he isn’t trying to redeem himself at this point, but Charlie doesn’t seem to understand that someone can be a good person and enjoy ‘not good’ things so why should he even try

He doesn't do drugs because he enjoys them. People do drugs mostly because they are unable to cope with the abuse they went through so their drugs overdose or drinking issues are results of trauma response. And he sleeps around because of his contract with Valentino that obligates him to do this and so that's the lifestyle he knows.

EXACTLY. It’s also acting, which is his whole thing. He actually does take his acting seriously, so it’s gotta hurt that Pentious gets complimented for his acting when none of them have ever acknowledged Angel as an actor. He specifically does cocaine, too, so making him play the role of the villainous “crackhead” has to be humiliating. I think he does actually want to change- the Addict mv (at the end) implied as much, as does Val’s voice when Angel is listening to his voice messages and the smoke comes out. Plus, there’s a pilot prequel comic depicting Charlie recruiting Angel for the hotel where Angel seems honestly taken aback/moved that Charlie apparently saw smth in him that she thought was worth redeeming and chose him to personally invite. Does he believe he could get to heaven? Unlikely, though he may still want it. But I’d argue that the story shows him wanting to change his life and himself for the better and seeing the hotel as a possible chance to do that. He can’t bring himself to be vulnerable enough to admit that he cares about improving, though. Charlie letting on that she no longer thinks of Angel as a “real” guest probably feels like she’s taking back that assurance she approached him with, that Angel could change, and that he was worth changing. Obvs, Angel did all this to himself with his behavior, but it’s easy to feel bad for him, anyway.

Not spoilers: the love potion poster is for an actual love potion which is a collaboration between Velvette and Valentino. It's a blink and you'll miss it thing, but there's a theory that the red stuff that's always coming from Val's mouth is what it's primarily made of and that his saliva is a kind of aphrodisiac. Regarding the line "Now his medium is gettin' bloody rare" from Stayed Gone, there is a third meaning that is related to the visuals. When Vox states this line, he is holding up a deer head. Vivienne Medrano has stated that Alastor was killed by a hunter that mistook him for a deer. This is also why his demonic form that was shown at the end of this song was similar to the Wendigo. The Wendigo is a Native American monster that is a carnivorous deer.
