Awesome reaction! For clarity, the original pilot of the show came out back in 2019, and this song was after that. In the pilot/Addict, Angel Dust is voiced by Michael Kovach, however for the release of the official Amazon Prime show Angel is now voiced by Blake Roman. That explains why they don't sound the same lol, they aren't! Also the other character in this song is Cherri Bomb, Angel Dust's best friend, she is from the pilot and makes an appearance in the show! Definitely recommend watching the original pilot for some clarity on the whole story and characters!

A really fun detail about this music video is that if you pause near the end when Cherri and Angel are walking out of the studio before they blow it up, there's a neon sign that you can see for a split second that says "it was all a dream" which needless to say shows that basically he's just fantasizing of breaking free from this horrible self destructive life that he's trapped in in this big over-the-top way with his best friend. And then the last 30 seconds after the credits is him coming down from the high and having to start facing reality again.

A fan of the original pilot wrote this song. It got made into an official song because they liked it so much. It is based on extended lore released by the creator of Hazbin Hotel at various points. Different voice actors from the pilot and new show. The pilot was an independent creation, but gained a big following, so a large production house picked it up, hence the new show on Prime.

Poison is a sort of spiritual successor to this more standalone song that was made around the same time as A24 picked up Hazbin Hotel to start producing the episodes. It was also before Angel had his current voice actor. In the pilot, everyone had a different voice actor actually.

"This sounds different." Good ear. This is the actor who did the voice for the pilot. The show was recast for the full series, because most of the original cast wasn't capable of singing the songs. Michael Kovach was the original VA and has gone on to do voicework in Poppy Playtime, The Amazing Digital Circus, and as Rocky Rickaby in Lackadaisy, which I highly recommend.

I’ve been waiting for this since the Poison reaction 😭 Edit: I haven’t listened to this song in awhile and I started crying at hearing Angel Dusts original voice actor 🥹 Edit 2: the show started off as a pilot on KZbin in 2019 and the music video was released a few months after. The creator of this show is actually Vivzepop, whose name is on KZbin. If I remember correctly, she uploaded the pilot episode to KZbin with the song Addict a few years ago. The creator has another series on KZbin, its name is Helluva Boss and there are songs in it, my favorites are House of Asmodeus in Helluva Boss and Respectles and Stayed gone in Hazbin Hotel.

4:51 Well technically, the sinners who go down to Hell take the form that's based around what they did to end up down there and how they died. Angel grew up in a mafia family but got badly, mentally abused by his father gor being gay, which caused Angel (back then known as Anthony) to turn to drugs to deal with the mental abuse. But as he says in the song, Angel eventually overdosed, ended up in a coma and died. And Cherri, she grew up in a similar situation but her father Izzi wasn't AS bad as Angel's was. Cherri and her dad enjoyed blowing cities up when they were alive, but one day got caught in a crossfire and the reason Cherri is designed as a cyclops is because she got shot in one of her eyes before she and her dad got blown up by the very bombs they used. Which is why she has an X as her pupil. 💗

okay a few things because i like to help characters in the song angel dust fat nuggets (the pig whom we all love) cherri bomb (the cyclops) valentino charlie (at the end, dont worry about her until you watch the show or listen to more songs thats the MC) explanation the pilot dropped like 4-5 years ago its been a while since i looked this song was a little bit after the pilot and all the characters VA's got changed for the shows release so the VA's for this song are different from the VA's for poison to my understanding the demons figure and power is based off their life in some way so not everyone is an animal but a lot of the demons are because of how much symbolism goes with them. anything i missed or any other questions you have i would love to answer for anyone wondering. hope this helps you o/ (they sell fat nuggets plushies im pretty sure :D)

So The character that pops up in the puddle and the one shot of Cherri Bomb is named Izzy, he was an original character for Vivs orginal youtube series called Zoophobia, but was later scrapped and put into the Hazbin lore. While his character is still a mystery he has some connection to Cherri bomb and is possibly an Australian mob boss or bounty hunter

If you haven't already and plan to watch the show I would recommend checking out "Thank You and Goodnight" (maybe after watching the pilot) which was a song recorded by the show's Pilot cast as a sort of thanks and farewell to the fanbase that fell in love with these characters in part due to their performances. Because as others have mentioned the whole show was recasted for the Prime release. It doesn't have any real connection to the show other than the voices, like no lore or story, but it's such a good bittersweet song still.

the reason it came out before the show was because it was sort of more for the pilot (??) if that makes sense (its the only way my dumbass can think to describe it). it came out after the pilot but before the show so angel also has a different voice (michael kovach). michael also isnt really as much of a singer as the new VA (blake roman i believe) who's from broadway (so obviously gonna be a really good singer) which is why poison sounds less autotuned or whatever than addict i believe. imo poison is better than addict but i still love addict with every fiber of my being and i will never consider it a bad song.

Ye the show only came out very recently but it's basically been in the making and process for a while now mostly because they needed to pick a good enough partnership for it, the pilot came out literally years ago and my gosh it's probably one of the few biggest fandom because of how odd and unique it was and even with just pilot and a few other official things the fandom have only grown over time and been active and now with the show finally officially coming out it's only grown even more and at a faster rate old fans coming back and all and more fans and fan content makes it more popular and thus the cycle goes on!

This song was before it was taken on by Bento box, A24, and Prime. The pilot and this song used the original voice cast. The official show on Prime uses a whole new Broadway voice cast. However, in my opinion, they did a pretty good job with finding similar voices in the recast. The original voice actor for Angel Dust in this song and in the pilot is voiced by Michael Kovach. The new voice actor is Blake Roman, who you would've seen do the live performance of Poison.

Harbinger hotel’s pilot came out a while ago before the show was greenlit. The creator was a youtuber and had basically the entire world lore made with an audience watching updates. A few music videos were made by the voice actors after the pilot was released. Unfortunately none of the pilot actors are able to go on the show due to legal reasons and stuff. Highly recommend reacting to the pilot before the show

The reason this one is different from the others is because this falls under the promotional material using the voice actor from the pilot and was posted by the original creator. The other videos were from the shown itself and likely weren't official. Also, almost everyone in this show is a demon for some sort. The show takes place in literal Hell.

So a little explanation. Hazbin Hotel has been in the making for at least 5 years. A pilot episode aired on KZbin in 2019, which led to Addict and another song called Insane being released. Vivziepop had to wait to get the show signed with a network, which ended up being Amazon. The VA for Angel Dust in the official show, as well as in the song Poison, is Blake Roman, while in the Pilot and this song, it was Michael Kovach. Both are phenomenal voice actors and singers in their own right Side note: You should check out Insane by Black Gryph0n, which is a song about the character, Alastor, he has a studio version and a period accurate live version. And you should react to the pilot episode as well! Anyways, I enjoyed hearing your opinions of these songs and can't wait for more

There was a pilot 3-4 years ago and this song came out as like a side thing/filler along with the series Helluva Boss, created by the same person and existing within the same canonical universe. The show itself though, just came out in January or February of this year and is really good. Both shows are pretty damn good for their own reasons.

Regarding the release timeline: Episode 0 came out a few years ago, probably to gauge interest. Over the next few years, they released a music video or two. IIRC there were some legal issues, so basically every voice actor had to be replaced, which is why episode 1 only came out recently, and why Angle Dust sounds different. HOWEVER! What you may not know is that there's a sister show called Helluva Boss that is done by the same animation team (or at least style), and takes place in this same universe. This show has been putting out episodes every few months directly to youtube while we all waited for Hazbin Hotel. I also highly recommend checking that out as well, as it is also quite excellent.

Every song is a mayor spoiler in my opinion so yeah. Maybe if you want another reaction video for the show do the Pilot? Loved it! If you're going to watch the show as well, make sure to watch the pilot episode first! It takes place before the show and gives more background on the characters! I love that ur pausing and talking so much, it's rly fun to see what u have to say abt it :))
