Hate to be that guy, but the 2011-2014 v6 is a much better engine than the prior. It also only makes about 5 hp less than the 4.6 modular v8 & can easily make 500hp with a spooly boy. Also a big fan of the New Edge, but they’ve got no balls. Kind of my dream to swap one someday. Leaps & bounds over a Foxbody if you can deal with the interior. TLDR- New Edge>Foxbody>Facelift>S197 Also- Netgear’s a bitch.

S197 and the face lift ones are really cool cars, but some of the owners just put way too much cosmetic modifications on them. The design is charmingly simple, so adding subtle things to it is best. The aftermarket for them is amazing but there is a whole lot of cringe you can buy for them too. Its kind of a miracle to see an unmolested s197 nowadays, so when I see a nice stock looking one I really appreciate it.

If y'all do this episode again. Look at the California special, the Boss 302 and the Shelby GT500. These were more expensive and not as accessible so these are less likely to have been riced out. The California special is just a GT with an appearance package. The boss 302 has better suspension and a better engine than the regular GT and the GT500 has a supercharged Trinity motor.

As a mustang fan, I don't take what netgear says to heart because it's all his personal preference (he also thinks that the '70 satellite front end is better than the '71-'73's, so it's not surprising he dislikes the S197) and some of the stuff he says is definitely true. I do also agree that the 13-14 S197's are the best looking of the 21st century mustangs. The S550s look like a ford Fusion and the S650s look like they tried to turn a Raptor into a sports car.

I only have negative views on Mustangs because I got t-boned by one on the highway several years ago. Totaled my wife's Chevy Malibu but didn't damage the Mustang at all except very light plastic damage to the bottom of the Mustang's bumper lol.

Foxbody mustang is the most based, the S197 mustang was the car someone I went to high school with did a hit and run with, and then after he got out of trouble for that, continued to wrap it around a telephone pole. Alex wasn't a great driver.

I love S197s, Ive owned 2 in the past 10 years. The 4.6 SOHC sucks, the rear end sucks, too heavy, and it gets like 0 steering angle. That being said Id probably buy another over a 5.0
