What works for me besides low calorie dense whole foods is integrating 200g of whole grain oats mixed with 50g+ of protein powder and 1L of water. Of course thats like 900 calories but it helps well to get fiber in and feel satiated with smaller meals for the rest of the day. So basically it allows me to lose weight without really starving.

With advice I gave my mom which I got from people like Greg, she was able to drop from an obese 230 with extreme knee and ankle pain to under 170 in maybe 1 1/2 years! Probably added literally a decade + to her legs by cutting those pounds and she honestly only had to cut out sugary alcohol (vodka and water has less than 1/2 the calories of twisted tea!) and count her calories to around 1500 daily! Still got to eat sweets, fruits and all the goodies just to a reasonable limit. Very doable and the quality of life improvement is undeniable. Stay strong everyone!

I seriously don't understand how anyone could let themselves go like that. Watching Coach Greg's videos and a couple other fitness channels got me to take a hard look in the mirror and get my butt to the gym. I started with WW to help me change my food intake towards the right direction, and hired a trainer at my gym. What eating better and working out has taught me is that its up to me, no one else. I had to stop blaming others and accept responsibility.

I just make sure what I eat is high protein. I also go to gym 6 days a week. Before I started going to gym, I never worked out or had significant physical activity other than my retail job. It's weird to me, I'm down about 110 pounds mainly from cutting out sugary drinks (switched to crystal light/use splenda for my sweet fix) and meal prep. In short, portion control. Keep 1 day for a cheat day so I don't go insane lol. I've been at this (specifically meal prepping) now for around 10/11 months (lost 30-40 before starting meal prepping - remaining 70-80 has come off in the past 10/11 months). Still have a long way to go unfortunately but once you find a way to sustainably lose weight, it only makes sense to just stick with it until it stops working or you reach your goal weight. Not sure why people don't understand that. It's about playing the long game - once you find a way that works, doesn't leave you constantly starving and you can maintain it long term why wouldn't you just stick with it?

A big issue is that people don't realise that it's all about lifestyle: if you lose weight and then slip into old eating habits, those fat cells are going to get saturated again because, as far as I know they don't suddenly disappear. Same with intermittent fasting, stop fasting and then you need to engage in exercise or restrict your calories to an appropriate amount to your activity level.

Most people are in denial... or straight out lying to everyone, or because of people like Nikoocado think it's okay to stay obese and keep on getting more and more obese. I was never in denial, I knew exactly why I made it to 300 lbs. I changed that and my life is better for it. I changed my diet and I also sleep and eat on a schedule. I take vitamins and work out Monday through Friday--cardio in the morning, and strength training in the afternoons with a trainer. Not only have I lost 75 lbs since I started the first week of November last year, but I feel emotionally much better, which has also helped me stick to my new habits, and now I'm down to 224 lbs. Dude knows exactly why he gaining weight again. P.S.: I do count calories, it was a hassle at the beginning, but you get used to it. I also cut out carbs and sugars because those were the things I was having the hardest time controlling. I miss certain foods, but I don't really crave them, so this is working for me. Nothing worse than a diet in which you feel like you're left wanting, those are the ones that are non-sustainable. I enjoy all my meals, and I am satisfied with my food.

Greg I agree with most of your philosophies but I find that the chemicals in processed food make you retain water more than sodium does and this results in less weight loss than calories from unprocessed foods.

I've lost 50 pounds doing OMAD as a 5 foot 9 inch man. I went from 257 to 207. I've hit a weight stall, though. I'd like to get to 160. I probably still don't eat enough vegetables, and I still eat out 4 days out of 7. Maybe I should get that cookbook to combine with my OMAD. I'm a busy school teacher with severe ADHD, but I'll try to overcome that ADHD "wall" and try to make myself cook more than I do now.

Your body has adapted to the new eating habits, change your calorie intake again. If you ate 2000/per day when you lost the 50lbs go down to 1600-1400/per day.

I weighed myself today and over the last two months I've lost 15 pounds it doesn't feel like much progress but I haven't given up I've been doing a little bit every day. I was able to play kick ball with my nieces and nephews yesterday and didn't quit immediately we played for a few hours until I couldn't ignore the pain in my knees. I feel like I should be a lot further along on my journey it's disheartening but I'm not giving up I've decided that I want to live to see my nieces and nephews graduate.
