This touches my heart, as in my heart I desperately want to homestead, and yet I am a fulltime caregiver for my mother with alzheimers. I've moved into her home to keep her in the only environment she remembers... soooo I tilled up most of her lawn... I have a garden plans, seeds are sprouting, and I have 4 rabbits coming in 2 days... GOD IS GOOD!

What a precious young man. This story started out sad and my eyes were full of tears, but to see the joy in his soul now is beyond exciting and inspiring! His life has had so many starts and stops, but in finding out who he really IS, and getting back into his faith, his true interests, besides just being a father, he's found true happiness that he was meant for all along! Thank you Justin for his story!

Incredible story. It takes a lot of courage to tell when things don't turn out like you planned. The feeling of failure can be monumental. It's nice to see that he found himself and picked up the pieces & rebuilt his life. Thank you for sharing.

This is such a powerful story! I am so glad that Justin has allowed Dan to share it. I don't know where I heard this saying before but, " When you are trying to plan your life, life plans you." I think that this is really true when you experience setbacks, disappointments, and grief in your life. This vlog is sooo important! It shows that if you keep the faith and persevere, your life can change drastically. This lesson is not only applicable to homesteading, but life in general. I am so happy that everything has turned around in such a wonderful way. Thank you for sharing your stories.

Thank you so much for this upload, and thanks to Dan for having the bravery to share his story. I also am a Father, who built a life for his family only for my Fiancee to disappear with my child one day to another state. There truly aren't words to describe the pain. I'm still searching for what my purpose is going forward, it's been since June 4, 2018. I'll never forget the day I came home to an empty house. These videos help though, they help a lot.

What an amazing story. This young man had the drive to make his dream homestead only to have heartbreak bring a stop to it. I think we have to wallow in our self pity so when things start to turn around, we appreciate life more. And to concentrate on his faith played a large part in reclaiming the life he had always dreamed of having. And to be able to share his life and ambitions with someone makes it all the more complete. Thank you Dan, for sharing your story. Blessings!

My husband has been in law enforcement for about 20 years. I have a strong desire to homestead and he agrees we should. I think getting started is the hardest part. We are trying to take steps to learn how to grow food, preserve food, and care for animals. We live on half an acre inside city limits, so we are limited. Do you have any tips for finding land? That seems to be our next step.

Wow what a change in you and your family's life. I sure am proud of this big step. I can see in your eyes while you talk about it ,Dan. Growing your own food is so rewarding in the soul and heart, beside the stomach. I enjoy the feeling of taking an empty plate to the garden and walkin out with a full plate of yum. Even a quick snack of kale or a tomato .I always call it God's gifts . A good smile' sunshine and waves of rain..makes it worth getting the hands dirty and your back sore. I did get dads old tiller fixed, so the gardens bigger and i took old used windows to make a greenhouse. growing the mind along with greens....lol I feel you sound like a detective that would have figured out April Tinsley,s killers as soon as she was found, from one kind of water to another. Was a tough Easter for the ones who knows . Stay strong in your homestead love the land and be safe. oh and a big secret when drawing bees to pollinate..good old catnip plants.a herb that has many qualities. Bless you Dan. Bless you Justin and families

Never look back dan. Your story is just like mine. I was 56 left a corporate job , took all my pension to pay off our farm so I could retire and home stead. 5 weeks later my wife of 38 years divorced me and I lost every thing.. It was the hardest thing I ever went through. That was 4 years ago, now I own a new farm with a growing business and just quit my job to stay home and homestead again. The one thing I learned is to NEVER get married. There all alike, its all glimmer and glory at first. But the shear fact that they can walk away because they didn't sacrifice to build it makes it to easy.
