Because of Jess, I restarted a relationship with God, stopped fearing tattooed people, and started growing tomatoes in the suburbs. With Justin I learn about livestock and dare to take the next step. Miah and Rebecca are sterling examples of loving partners. Both families are a blessing in my life. Thank you all.

Yeah, I love your attitude. Also, I think you are intrigued by truth when you hear it. I also love how authentic these people are. I have kids about their ages. As a parent and grandparent, I am so encouraged by them. Like, as long as there are people like this and raising their children the way they do, there is hope in the world. Best regards!

Somewhere we, as a society, stopped valuing failure. No one has succeeded who has not learned to appreciate the learning value of failure. I truly appreciate how you teach the truth of the learning process.

I believe people may have succeeded without failure, but they've probably compromised their true selves at some point. That's something they'll have to face in their journey, and it'll be a tough hurdle to get past. 😔

I’m a 62 year old widower and will never have a full on homestead. But I’ve gotten so much from all of you. I have an acre of land and have a potager that I’m in love with. Y’all have helped me realize that I can have my version of a homestead- a garden, fruit and berries, herbs for healing, and eventually chickens. More importantly, y’all have helped me to realize the peace I feel getting back to a more natural life.

Ok I’m the seventy year old follower who has gardened my entire life and canned food my entire wedded life. Many people in my community never even had a garden or ever preserved anything. I really felt alone for many years. About 2 years ago I found U-tube, I’m now a bigger gardener and preserver than ever before. What you are doing really makes a huge difference in many peoples lives don’t let the negatives get you down. My time tonight listening to your interview with Justin and Rebecca was just fantastic!! I will listen many times and laugh every time. In the beginning I did see the tattoos but I also saw the art!! All the laughter between you and Miah as well with Justin and Rebecca, tonight’s vlog was absolutely the best. Don’t loose that “ I’m just a farm boy line” from Ben. It will be with you forever. I will always remember Jess replying to one of my comments. It was early in finding the channel and I wanted to transport cow panels and wasn’t sure how. Honestly it’s likely what reeled me in realizing that there a real people on the other end that genuinely want to help us be the best we can be in out situations. I don’t want to sound creepy but Jess and Miah are my friends and they don’t even know it 😂 I talk about them and use their names and my family and friends know who I’m talking about. I can never express how grateful I am to have found them and learned so much from them.

Thank you Justin for sharing this interview. You really did a good job puting this together. Miah hit it on the nail head, I'm now in My 60's. My husband and I have had to transform our lives several times. From running a dairy farm, to raising chickens for Pilgram, to now raising beef cattle to sell to individuals. Jess is a blessing in my life. In November of 2017 my stepdaughter called me to come watch Jess on UTube with her in her garden doing a devotional. She, Paige, told me "mom she will help you grow in the garden when I can't." We watched her everytime she was able. She passed away in May 2018. I continue to watch and learn from her. You and your family are also amazing. The farming that you are doing is the kind of traditional living I grew up with. Thank you for all you and your beautiful family do.

I have no tattoos except for my chin. Yes for me I was guided by Creator as a Native woman to do it. My kids still laugh that mom got her only tattoo on her chin. Very hard commitment for me. My first time out in public I was terrified at reactions. I pulled up to a drive through and this woman at the window gave me the most beautiful smile and greating. Half her face had been very badly burned. I gave her a beautiful smile back. A Creator moment!

We watch Roots and Refuge Farm, and we are each an atheist, and a Pagan, and we love your channel. As somewhat new homesteaders (5 years), we are often hesitant to join homestead groups because of the anti non christian, anti non conservative attitudes we've encountered. It's so refreshing to feel like you belong to a community like this, despite the undercurrent tone... Also, why defend, or be ashamed of your tattoos? It's your body, and your decision. I hate that certain people use their beliefs to make others feel small, or terrible.

James i agree with you 💯. It wasn't tattoos but I left because my preacher called me out specifically for wearing pants at a singing. I had just gotten off of work and didn't have time to change. @@yourtransformationjourney6503 That's heartbreaking. Regardless of what it is, when others seek out community, or fellowship, they should be welcomed, and not judged, or chastised for being different, that's what makes us all unique, and interesting. Bringing different experiences, and knowledge to the table enlightens everyone. Living in a bubble prevents experience, learning, and connections.

@@yourtransformationjourney6503 God fortunately looks at the inside, our hearts and souls, not the outside. I remember a time when my son wore his best, newest pair of denims to church as he was growing so fast he'd outgrown all his school uniform and dress pants and as a single mother I had to wait until my next payday to afford to buy him new pants. God doesn't care what you wear, what car you drive, etc. He cares who you helped and supported. He cares more about your actions and character than superficial things like what you wear. God bless!!

I think authority comes from authenticity. Owning your truth. You can't set yourself up as an authority if you lie to people about your reality. It's okay to tell the whole story. I woke up this morning to a blizzard and couldn't get back to sleep cuz I was worrying about my chickens who I moved outside yesterday. They were just fine. But this was just the BEST way to start my day! Like starting my morning with coffee and friends! Thanks for inspiring me! Your transparency & vulnerability helps me choose to work more toward my goals with each episode. Keep on inspiring us! 😘

I’m a 25 year old follower of Roots & Refuge. Just getting started in my own journey toward homesteading. I watch just about every video they put out. Obviously we’ve never talked in person, but it feels like Jess has become like a mentor to me in many fronts. She offers so much wisdom in motherhood, Christianity, homesteading.. Very thankful to have found their channel.

Thanks Justin for all your family does for this community. I love the real farm life content. I love that both of these families are vulnerable with teachable moments that most channels don't show. It has helped us prepare for different animal we would like to get on our homestead.

Y'all are so brave for getting out and doing the things you want to do and learning the things you want to learn. Not all that long ago people grew up learning this stuff as children and had parents and family members they could go to for help with this but these days that's just not the case. I've spent so much of my life being too timid to try something new if I didn't have a teacher there in front of me to hold my hand and tell me I'm doing it right and I'm done with that mindset. I'm going out and doing it - moving the country, planning my orchard and on livestock - because of y'all. My family and friends keep congratulating me and tell me how awesome and brave it is but I have to share that with you - all of you for being even braver than me by sharing your stories and your lives and being REAL. Thank you!!

I love listening to you guys, bonus that all four of you are together, talk about you are going to make mistakes. Plus, you show us all the time how to do better next time. One of the many reasons I bought Justin’s book was I know he didn’t write this without years of trial and error. Lee up the good work!!

I've been watching Jess & Miah since 2018 when I was 22! I've was vegan for 7 years and now consider myself plant-based. I love watching her garden content but I also learn a lot about the animal side of homesteading. It's not something that I want to do at this time but I think the knowledge of how people do that is important. I also am not religious but I agree with the commenter Jess talked about. I watch all of the devotionals because it moves me so much! One of my favorite KZbin channels and I love how open they both are with sharing everything! ❤ love this podcast with them! Lots of love ❤

Two of my favorite families...you both have inspired my husband and I to go after our dreams at 56 and 62, we bought 14 acres and are willing to be students and learn and also be vulnerable. I'm not much for social media so this abundance plus platform has been a Godsend!! I too am thankful Jess that you are a willing vessel to let God speak to so many...keep the devotionals coming along with everything else! Both of these families have AMAZING children who are getting the best opportunities I wish I would've had growing up! Thank you all, truly!❤

i just paused the video to comment that i´m a 32 year old portuguese lady that found out about jessica and jeremiah´s youtube channel through becky´s acre homestead channel. right away i thought that jess looked cool. i checked the channel and i really liked watching her teaching so much about gardening in an understanding way to people like me who are learning. i´m reading her book in order to start my garden next spring and it´s like i can hear her voice when i am reading it. i´m loving it. through jess i found charles dowding, and also got his book. anyway the reason that got me to write the comment is that i am young, not religious and really enjoy the videos!

Y’all are awesome. Thank y’all for the vulnerability. It’s helps us who are over here just starting farm life, living real life and having real life issues. This is what we need! It’s encouraging just to know that y’all really do struggle at times too! Like it’s real life for y’all too🤣😊 Thank y’all.

Jess, You are AMAZING, inspirational, knowledgeable, joyful, and such a positive force in the gardening/homesteading youtube community! I personally don't watch the devotionals and sometimes I choose to skip a video because I'm not religious, but I keep coming back because of how encouraging you are. Keep doing you and looking at the positive side of life! Miah, keep being the wonderful human you are. The way you make Jess laugh is so incredible. The love that you two share comes through every time you join a video. Thank you both for encouraging me to just get going with my own food forest and getting me over the fear of failure in the garden.
