Besides the way his tone changes when he says "black" and "transgender", I really don't get why he tried to make a case for Batman only losing one of parents as "ruining" the origin. The Batman community is quite literally known for meme-ing the hell out of Batman's origin (for example "Bruce, it's been 5 years" Part 2) to the point that even Teen Titans Go did the same thing (Robin pushing Batmans's parents into the alleyway to get shot). It got repetitive after all this time so having something different is refreshing. That's why many also liked Flashpoint for example.

Take for example the already mentioned "Bruce it's been five years" Part 2. At the end of the day, it's not really an issue, more of a preference thing for the classic characters (still it's stupid to claim an origin story is "ruined" by different circumstances in an alternate universe like the guy in the video did, to be clear ^^)

We also can't forget that Darkseid created this universe, these characters are all the complete opposite of what they stand for and they are trying to fight their way to become and embrace their classic selves. For example superman stands and is a symbol of hope, truth and justice all in the American way, however in this universe he's an 2000 year old alien that's trying to find hope on earth. Wonder Woman stands for equality and equal fighting opportunity to fight as a community, while in this universe I'm guessing she's an independent warrior who seeks to work alone but will have to find a way to cope with the help of others. So if this is the case then batman is a rich philanthropist who seeks justice to prevent crime through and by the book, while in this universe he's less fortunate and fights crime however he struggles to fight by the book hence the reason he has a battle axe and is built like a unit meaning he is tempted to kill these criminals.

3:50 Back in the silver age they were mostly seen as stuff for kids because they were pretty campy and didn't take themselves seriously. After the golden age they became more like how most media is today. The medium just like movies and animation can basically appeal to a wide range of audiences depending on what it's creator's target audience. In the case of DC it's mostly teenagers and adults. I personally prefer Image comics. They currently have a lot of good underrated stories for adults. If you want a good one read Local Man. It's a short 3 issue mini series that's very grounded in realism with its dialogue. Highly recommend it.

Batmans very superhero costume and name is based on his own fear, he turned his own fear into a weapon to use against others. Gotham itself is literally a cursed city depending on the continuity. Two of batmans main villains are a literal lunatic clown (joker) and a fear demon (scarecrow). You could with minimal effort rewrite Batman into a fantasy setting where he is a demon hunter fighting demonic possession and similar. It is edgy, it has always been just a little bit edgy but it's the good kind of edgy. If you want actual cringe batman go for the batman who laughs that takes all of the edgy themes to their extreme.

Generally, I'd say yeah, comics are meant for kids. Specifically teens. But comics have also gotten far more mature as they've gone on, and adults are probably the main demographic of comics now. Which is probably why comics are struggling as a business medium. I might genuinely be one of the only Gen Z people who reads and buys comics, and even then, I'm typically buying and reading older stuff so that I can catch up with the current stuff. I used to just read whatever was in my library, because I knew enough about the characters to get the gist of what was going on, but as I've started diving into characters I don't know much about, or reading their comics for research purposes, I've felt I should go back to the older stuff first and then read a handful of stuff for each character I want to read more of. It's time consuming and money consuming, but I enjoy it. And every once in a while, I'll find a story that's just like peak storytelling. But there's no way I'm going to read like every comic in existence. I'm only interested in Marvel and DC, but I'm not interested in reading every character's books. And even if I was, I'd be like 60 by the time I've finished just ONE of their entire catalogues. Which gives me like 38.5 years, but... Jesus Christ, that'd be insane. But, uh... Yeah. Comics are definitely geared towards teenagers and young adults.
