This is really country music. Not the pop stuff they call country these days. I'm not a huge country fan but I've seen Dwight live and he's the real deal.

When this dude came out he was very different from the country artists at the time. He was almost a throw back to older country music and had almost a rock edge to him,.

Dwight was part of the new Country revolution....along with , Gerorge Strait, Randy Travis , Ricky Van Shelton, Vince Gill and others (not forgetting the females :) But the thing that got me about Dwight was that he was so cool but exciting at the same time....hard to do :)

Dwight has a unique voice , i'm not a huge country music fan but i always know its him when i hear him.
@324cmacАй бұрын
I'm like you, not usually a big country music fan. But, I think Dwight brought some people over because he's so good. He brought back the good, old school country music of Hank Williams and Patsy Cline.
@rogerdaly6326Ай бұрын
@@324cmac One of Dwights idols was Buck Owens so we know where some of his old school country feel comes from.

A great example of genre-hopping music is Dwight's rockabilly version of the Motown classic, "The Locomotion" off of his 'Dwight's Used Records' album...speaking of classics, check out Toots and the Maytals' reggae version of John Denver's "Country Roads"...
It’s a downright shame Reactors don’t know about this Legend! Dwight is tradition, master songwriter, hit-maker! This concert is Fire….you must react to: She Wore Red Dresses

Dwight could not make it in Nashville, he left and went to Bakersfield, CA and worked on his sound. He is now the main person carrying on the Bakersfield sound, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, and The Byrds. He started opening for punk bands, in the video it shows a marquee opening up for the Violent Femmes.
