We got a text from a customer telling us he had rolled his Jeep up the canyon. Luckily he wasn't injured and made it out safely! Since our Jeep is currently broken we called a friend with a skid loader and a winch, Don from Steele Towing in Nephi.

I drove a tow truck for years and I always took the stance that I clean up so it's safe for me to ride my motorcycle through the scene. Plus I just note if extra time is needed for cleanup on the bill. Charging for a legitimate service never bothered my conscience.

It is a good idea to pull the plugs before you crank the engine, that way all the oil in the cylinders can come out the plug holes instead of bending the rods. Once the cylinders are clear then put the plugs back in and start the engine.

If you don't have a shield, lay a small towel on the winch line somewhere around halfway. If it breaks weight of towel drops line to ground and not flying back at you, some recoil but nothing to worry about.

Most likely a hydraulic winch since the skid loader already has hydraulic lines for other things... I have one that I had on my XJ... They are great, you can winch all day and not have to worry about duty cycle or it overheating... Steel cable, of course since they are more durable than synthetic in a work environment...

Like how you are doing recoveries and filming them. Look what it did for Matt’s channel. In just a couple years he hit 1,000,000 subscribers. You definitely need to build a cool off road recovery rig. Maybe a lifted straight axle Suburban on 38’s with a 500hp LS motor with a huge winch. Get away from the unibody XJ. They are great for being light in the sand. But you need something with weight for the recoveries I seen you do. Great job Robby…

@Bobbywolf64
@Bobbywolf64 2 жыл бұрын
@@haroldphipps3457 Correct. The right thing to do to save the motor, and get it started would have been to pull the plugs before cranking it over. There is a very real possibility that one or more rods are bent now. I'm sure that jeep is a total loss so it likely isn't a big deal in this case, but the engine could have been saved by just leaving it, or clearing the hydrolock before cranking.
