You should do your best to preserve your marriage. Most of the problems in this HC, I agree the wife should divorce her husband. But in this case, I think both are at fault. The wife does not set a loving home for his husband and the husband should help out a bit more. If she soften and love her husband, I am sure his drinking habit will change too. Think about it, he only drink twice a month and he expect food while he got home. Why does the wife feel burdened by that? she can just leave the food on the table and sleep. I think he is violent because he just feel he is a money maker robot. Also, her wife missed an important family gathering. Well, of course people can forget but usually, someone from the family will call you if they think you are late. She must've missed many family events that his family did not even bother to call her (they kinda expect her to not ahow up). Third, how tactless are you to call your MIL/FIL in the middle of the night? (unless it is an emergency). I know she is frustrated but she could've just wait couple of hours and call them

@@rosalina9358 I kinda agree with you but for different reasons. I believe that marriage is where two people helps to build each other and solve problems together. To just give up will set examples for the children that of things break, they shouldn't work to fix it. The children will also grow up having separated parents which will definitely be harmful for them. And that's bad enough. Also, it seems that they don't communicate their problems well and keep it to themselves which adds to the fuel. And lastly, since he doesn't hit her while being drunk. I believe that this marriage should be work upon instead. I do support divorcing if the husband abuse or do something as bad.

Nam Balloon Korean people don’t like when couples are having a baby before getting married, that’s kind of a big problem for young couple because sometimes they don’t want to get married but the woman is pregnant so the family is really anxious about what others people can say about them.... very patriarcal but it seems to be « better » nowadays, i mean it depends on the family but a lot of couples aren’t married now and have children.

My aunts all got married because they got pregnant and my mom never outright said this but has heavily implied that it was kind of a rape situation in order to trap the girl. And that's why my mom didn't date korean men my mom said because of what happened with her sisters. And that was over 20 years ago. And my friend who moved to korea also got pregnant because of a rape-like situation with her boyfriend and he insisted that they get married. But she got an abortion instead. So it seems like that's still going on. The whole trapping women into marrying them. But I don't live in korea so I don't know for sure but it seems like it.

I'm getting the sense that they didn't date long before she became pregnant and had to marry. It seems like they don't know each other that well. And now they are married, have a child, and have to live together they are finally seeing each other for how they truly are and they don't seem compatible at all. But divorce is frowned upon and will negatively affect all of them, including the child. I hope that they can find a way to work this out so the innocent baby can be raised in a happy household.

Happier for them but not for their son. In fact, it could impact the children so much that they too will have broken marriage. This marriage doesn't involve abuse and they could work this if they try. If it did involve abuse or their marriage was in a really bad condition, I'll agree that divorce is better for the kids to grow up healthy. I've seen many talented kids become a waste just because of their parents divorce. Although some of those parents are young which I think could be the push since they can't handle stress and problems good enough or ask for helps.

I hope she doesn't get pregnant again until they sort themselves out because the children are the ones that will suffer. Each feel that they've been wronged and unappreciated. The husband though is using the threat of divorce to hold over the wife. I guess it's his way of seizing control in a passive-aggressive fashion. I do wonder though whether what he'd do if one day she'll call him on it. I'm speculating that he's waiting for her to leave on her own, so he won't look like the bad guy.

camille caumont I’m not. I find it a serious problem that in Korea you can literally be kicked out of your whole family for being a single mum. It’s horrible and discriminating and too many of these cases are due to that. This one is really light and not bad compared to some which will negatively effect both the child being stuck in that household and the wife’s mental health

The problem is that they choose to be like that, i think they're very indifferent from each other. Seriously, the husband only wants a nice loving wife who also prepares hot meals and talk to him, the wife needs the husband to help around the house even small chores like dishes and caring for the baby. They are very high and mighty with each other when in fact they should be like bestfriends.

Also, this is just my hunch but they don't actually love each other. Particularly the husband. He seems to regret the marriage. Because if they do genuinely love each other, they would've try to help and care for the others as much as they could. Or communicate their problems better or their feelings about things. The way they are now, it looks like they keep everything inside themselves.

At one point, one of the MCs mentioned that the girl asking for help to the mother and father in law wasn't the best idea because they don't intake it right. And I think that's one of the saddest thing in Korean culture. The girl isn't trying to say oh it's because of YOUR SON, YOU RAISED HIM LIKE SHIT. no it's not that. It's more like he's giving me a hard time and i know he has his own issues. But I'm asking that maybe you as his parents could mold him (bc he won't f-king listen to me) so that he can contribute and help this family because that's the least he could do. They're so protective of their kid and they think her saying that hurts their pride. Pride shouldn't be used as a weapon like that. I'm so ready for the old bad Korean traditions to disappear. Older generation ppl would be like shit and yet you still have to respect them 110% until THEY feel satisfied. They expect you to say nae nae nae (yes in a formal way) all the time. Its ridiculous. I feel like they're just really glossing over the fact that this dude is a literal alcoholic too easily. There is no his side of the story here. He doesn't do his job as a husband or father. He's not there for them. Period. If I was her and I saw those divorce papers... I would've signed them and left. That's a really dangerous and improper situation to put a small child into. He doesn't respect her, doesn't show up for his son, shows up wasted at 2-3 AM, and his biggest complaint about her is she doesn't make him rice when he's drunk or let him drink 300 days a year like he used to. He's irresponsible and incapable of doing what he needs to do. She should leave. If he follows and is willing to quit drinking for good, that's the one and only reason she should even consider staying in this relationship. Period.
