From long island NY, just signed contract in April 2024. Having new home built in Eastport. For the gas stove question. Our new home is gas. Also our visit was great, absolutely no pressure to buy. But now that we have each process is explained very well. From sales, designer, closing staff everyone is so happy to help & answer all questions & if they don't know the answer They will direct you to someone who does.

You guys (and Gizmo) are great! Very helpful information. We are getting ready to close on a new construction house in Newell (thanks in part to your videos) and had a quick question for you. The Villages realtor told us that upon arrival, we have 7 days to conduct a walkthrough with the builder representative, and then 7 days after the walkthrough to submit an official punch-list of fix items for a builder sub-contractor to come and fix. Can you recommend a trustworthy and thorough home inspector who may accompany us on the walkthrough? Thank you!

We are not sure of that. We did have an inspection on a pre owned home… but no experience with having it done on new homes.

Different strokes for different folks. I can't imagine choosing to live my retirement in essentially a gigantic sprawling suburb. I worked very hard to position my life away from traffic and strip malls. I have friends in TV who love it but it's barefoot in a chickee hut for me.

When I was 16 (46 today), I left my wallet on top of my car 🚗 at home. Luckily, the man across the street (I was parked on his side) brought it over to me. I had $900 in the wallet (I was paying my grandma’s bills for her). I was so happy, but could not believe he was honest & returned it. Then, when I was in my mid twenties, I lost my wallet (I am a pocket person, and do not like carrying a wallet for obvious reasons) at the hospital. Luckily, the security guard must have mentioned it to a guy I hadn’t seen in many years from childhood, & he said he knew me. He returned it to my grandma’s (my childhood home). I had a few hundred, but it was almost all I had at the time, as I was Christmas 🎄 shopping. Had he not returned it, there would not have been a Christmas that year. I was very fortunate, although, the security probably should not have given it over, to think 🤔 about it. I think people need to think 💭 of how they would feel-put the shoes 👞 on the other feet sometimes. I know I was very grateful.

Oh Linda that comment from Blonde Jam had me spitting out my Monday morning coffee and choke chuckling for a couple of minutes. I purchased a small vacation condo here on Vancouver Island which my husband and I visited every chance we got before we actually retired and bought a house out here. One morning I was going to the central mailbox area to pick up my mail, newspaper, and my neighbour who lived below our suite was also there, and asked me why I felt it was necessary to put make up on everyday? Luckily, I was on my A game that day, and said "because I can't look as pretty as you without a little help". I thought she was going to drop dead on the spot. lol The moral of the story is, if nasty people come at you, kill them with kindness. I don't think she ever spoke to me again other than in passing to say Hi.

We'd be there in a heartbeat if we could afford it. We did a lifestyle visit in 2022 and absolutely loved it. No pressure at all. It was our choice to see properties. Unfortunately, the housing market has priced us right out of living there. I still love watching the two of you though. I live vicariously thru your video's!

I just saw the beautiful high school and fields they are building. Is Middleton a mixed community? Taxes will go up if you have a school now.

The Villages just released a 7 minute video showing a few of the different floor plans for the Village of Middleton. Home prices start in the $180's and go up to the $400's. There is even a design center for Middleton inside The Villages sales office at Lake Sumter Landing. As Middleton develops, it will be interesting to see what it does for property taxes in the future.

@Barbara Ebner I am still planning on retiring in December, 2024, unless my employer retires me before then. With my Dad gone now, the only thing keeping me in the Midwest is my job. If prices stay steady in The Villages for the next 20 months I can still manage it. If there is a big price jump in The Villages like what happened in 2022, I might have to turn to Plan B. It would be handy to have a crystal 🔮

My wife and I made our reservations for a Lifestyle visit, and at that time they asked us what kinds of things we were interested in seeing. I told them we just want to get a feel for the neighborhoods, and squares, and I think we can do that ourselves. They said ok, and we didn't hear from The Villages at all. Absolutely no pressure. That being said, The Villages personnel don't really need to do anything. People are buying places left and right without any sales effort at all.

Sorry Jerry, your answer on golf cart path cops is innacurate. The multimode paths are all private property and no tickets could be issued for any moving violation on private property. The golf cart/bike lanes are a different story, as they are on public roads. Also, I'm sceptical of the cop cart photo. It looks fishy to me.

Here’s another downside to keeping too much and to getting rid of too much. I ended up moving back to Maryland to help my daughter with her kids during Covid. She works and needed me to stay home with my grands. I sold my Florida home and put so many things in storage. Here are the negatives: 1. Storage is expensive 2. I can never find anything 3. When I need/want anything it’s usually in storage and I end up buying another “whatever” that I am looking for. 4. I decided that I needed a storage unit in Maryland too. 5. I’m a mess!

Totally agree about TV needing more shopping. Especially for us down south. Hopefully once Eastport is up and running it will change. It's like a day outing to drive up to Spanish Springs to hit all the stores you need only to get home and notice your forgot one thing. We learned that lesson so we make sure we make a list of everything we need. Very cool police golf cart. Much needed. There are folks out there that juiced up their MPH on their carts to 25-30 MPH which is VERY dangerous. I had one encounter with a guy not stopping under a tunnel coming from a "road closed" area and he was flying. Passed all 4 golf carts in front of me at a high rate of speed and I thought for sure he was going to tip over. Not cool. So be careful out there everyone! Great show as usual. 👍

I watched the make over video - pretty glamourous and perfect for an evening out - but I wish she would have done a more casual look for day to day. About the vegetable garden, the sticking point may be the raised garden part vs planting straight in the ground. I don't have to worry about that because I can only grow silk plants :)
