Mony Mony was a Tommy James and the Shondells original.The title came to Tommy as he looked out the window and saw the MONY(Mutual of New York) sign on top of a skyscraper.The original was great but Billy's remake was so full of energy.👍🎶

Yr information is spot on. Tommy wrote soooo many great songs. Believe he wrote and produced Tighter Tighter for Alive and Kicking. Same goes for Sugar on Sunday by Clique. It's a travesty their not in Rock n Roll Hall of Fame yet the Gogos got in this yr. So crazy,!

I saw Billy Idol jump on stage, totally unannounced - like 6 years or so ago at a small music festival in LA and do this song ...complete surprise and the crowd went WILD as you can prolly imagine!! Great memory.

They edited out the audience "enhanced" lyrics. After " Here she comes now sayin' Mony Mony" the audience usually shouts "Hey! Hey what? Get laid get f****d!" This song was played at my high school (early 90s) by a travelling military Jazz and Rock band. When you have 1500+ students adding to the lyrics, 20+ teachers rushed the stage to get them to stop the song! Good memories!

I used to go to dance clubs in the early 80s . They would play this song later at night. The dance floor was always filled at any one I would go to. It's such a fun song to dance to!!

I was in the crowd at this show when it was filmed... we got to see it performed 2 more times after the end of the show! They announced that it was being recorded and asked for no chanting... but there was definitely a lot of chanting!

I saw Billy Idol live at a classical theater from the 1930's in the 80's. A local college student drew a huge black & white drawing of Billy 10' x 20' as a gift. Billy loved the drawing so much he hung it as his backdrop on stage.

Little known fact: Billy Idol had a punk rock band called Generation X before his solo gig. As a teen punk rock girl in the late 80s, I loved his Gen X band. It's worth an investigation, Jay. Haha. And this song always got us hyped up at our school dances! Check out Eyes Without A Face by him too. A different tone, but so good.

Then traveled across country by car and got to NYC where they played BI on the video screen super large on the alter turned video platform at the Limelight. I call it the summer of Billy Idol but it was more like two years. Love him.

If you think this has energy then you should try “to be a lover’ live at Wembley 1990. I was there with my gf and we barely spoke due to the intensity. Energy was 5 times bigger and for a moment I felt like Elvis was there to watch Billy. Just like Queen this was Billy’s moment at the Wembley. God bless you son

I see lots of great things about Billy Idol in the comments here. I also had the privilege to see him live, with Steve Stevens (amazing guitar player, he stole the show for me). His career was derailed in the early 90's, after the big accident he had ( he almost died and almost lost a leg). He was supposed to be in an Oliver Stone movie, I think "The doors" movie? He had to really stop working and it took him years to come back. An underrated song is "Speed" to me, from the movie of the same name (1994). It was so promising, but unfortunately it didn't last. I'm glad he still performs and looks healthy. ♥

If you want a slow, nice ballad from Billy then I'd definitely suggest 'Sweet Sixteen'. Something with a high energy feeling would be 'Don't Need a Gun', 'Flesh for Fantasy' or maybe 'Hot in the city'. Certainly recommend reacting to all of the songs!
