I thought this might be a redo of the Tears for Fears song that you did quite some time ago. That was actually how I "discovered" you. I specifically looked for bass covers of that song, and noticed this guy with all these weird masks in the background, and I read the description with the dryly humorous story of stopping to buy almonds. I related to that (without the almonds) as I had also never paid attention to the song, then one day I heard it on the radio and thought, "This is actually a really good song!" I slammed the like button and slapped subscribe, and the rest - as they say - is history!

Man, every single time there's a song that I want to learn on the bass, without fail, you have always done a cover of it. I like the way you mix the bass into the music, just a bit louder than the original. It helps to hear it more when I'm trying to transcribe the whole song.
@TJH311310 ай бұрын
That’s great to hear, I hope you find them helpful. That was always my intention, to mix my bass just slightly louder than the bass on the recording. I record everything live, so it’s an imprecise science. Some mixes turn out better than others. Thanks and take care.

The thing with ABBA’s music is that they sound like simple pop songs at first glance, but once you delve into them and you start breaking them down, they’re more complicated and complex that you realize. Benny is a master song and melody writer, imho and Bjorn’s lyrics just match so perfectly with his melodies. Rutger has quickly moved up on my list of bass player and has become one of my absolute favorites. His playing on all of the ABBA material is just masterful. Really great job with this cover! Hope you’re going doing ok and everything is well! Peace!

Fabulosity! Sounds great, another very fliud,melodic bassline from Rutger, beautifully rendered! The Visitors is my Favorite Abba album, great from start to finish. I think it was also their last.(?) Oh my Troy, this is thrilling. I heard an extra sound in there. I don't know what it is called. Do you have a jazz guitar? Let me know if you heard what Geddy Lee said about how he got his name. So precious. Troy, you must have endless energy. How in the world did you get so much accomplihed????? I love those blinds. I noticed them over two years ago. Your house looks elegant. What are the cats up to these days? Take care. Love, to your mom and Lynn. Marvine
@TJH31134 жыл бұрын
Thanks Marvine. No extra sound that I can think of. No, I do not have a Jazz "guitar", but perhaps you mean a Jazz "bass"? Then yes, I have two of those. Nothing as old or collectible as anything Geddy has though. In fact, both of mine are Geddy Lee Signature Models. With all the other basses, it's been quite a while since I've played them. I'm sure I'll make it back around to them at some point. Yes, I've heard the story of how "Gary" got his name. I'm extraordinarily low energy. I just didn't want to feel guilty for being out of work and the only way to do that was to actually do some "work" at home. Thank you. The house is simple and we try our best to keep it nice. With no children, we're pretty easy on it. We've been in it 16 years now. The cats are all good. Simon, the basement cat, passed away the Friday before last and that was a bit sad. He was 17 and had a very rough start in life. You too. I'll tell them. Take care.
