Although Toothpaste is a great, fast, cheap, easy method to get your headlights clear, it only lasts as long as you maintain the wax on the headlight. I just developed a new method after testing different methods that will Restore your Headlights Permanently! Check it out: How to Restore Headlights PERMANENTLY
@jacobanderson947910 жыл бұрын
Could you do a spray on clear coat instead of wax like in the video where you sanded the headlights?
@chrisfix10 жыл бұрын
Teh Nautilus You do not want to buff the lens smooth like you do in this video. You want to have scratches for the clear coat to adhere to. If you make it smooth, the clear coat wont grab onto anything and it will peel. You can also have a problem with the paint running. Check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3atk36Cj5yFo68
@oswaldichbrauche5059 жыл бұрын
Teh Nautilus yeah you polish the headlights real good, then you can put clear on it, if you wish you can tint the clear then spray it on.

@@fouziashahzad3892 it works but it’s by no means a long term solution. He has another video where he uses a different technique to make it last much longer. It’s a little more expensive, but if done right, will last you several months if not longer. The key is, one your headlights are nice and clear, clean them often along with the rest of the car and apply good wax to them. Preventative care is the best solution to anything car related.

I just tried this today. Picked up Colgate toothpaste with peroxide and baking soda, at the dollar tree. Scrubbed it all over my Corollas headlights with a tooth brush. And they're a lot more clear now + took out most of the yellowing. Thank you!
@vigilantemotors2 жыл бұрын
This may sound funny but to keep them clear and keep them looking great for much longer avoid parking facing the sun. It's the sun that oxidizes them. So, when you are out and about, park in the shade or a garage or just not front facing the sun in a parking lot or work. It will save them from getting hazy for much longer.

They're probably healthier without the damned fluoride in them. I quit using toothpaste and switched to plain peroxide and baking soda. After 5 years my gums have grown back and my teeth aren't painfully sensitive to cold anymore. Did you know fluoride is a toxic byproduct of smelting aluminum? Good for your teeth I guess, but poisonous everywhere else.

Hey...This worked for me. It might not be 100% but lords it made a difference!! You gotta put some elbow grease into it and work it around with the tooth brush... but hey.. its works. If the oxidation is inside well, no. Might not help. Just give it a try. I used Dollar General brand tooth paste with baking soda...mixed it in a bowl with extra baking soda...a tiny bit of water to make a paste. Rubbed it on and added a spritz of water as I used the tooth brush. Wiped it off and sprayed it... now both head lights are clean!! AND smell minty fresh!! Thanks for the tip! If this 54 yr old lady can do this...you can too!

Still another use for baking soda based toothpaste with fluoride, seems to be as an anti-fungal cream applied for 5 days to your toe nail. I experimented with it very similar to the headlight application without whipping it off the toe-nail and applying to toothpaste to the toe nail underside, top side and working it in a little. Toe nail fungus that had been with me for several years, went away and hasn't come back for a year. I used Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Fluoride Tooth Paste. The idea is to change the pH of the toe nail with the baking soda and no doubt the fluoride helped too. Finally after a week of application, I stopped further application when the outer most layer of skin on my toe came off. Further application would have probably started an irritation. Cost of the application: 10-cents.

you didnt save $300, you spent a toothbrush and some toothpaste!!!
@gatorr4life7 жыл бұрын
Gennady Loves Me I know this is really old and probably won’t get a reply, but how did you save you $300 on a simple headlight restoration? That’s a bit much, isn’t it? Were you going to install new ones instead of just cleaning them? Are headlights that expensive?

My headlights literally look so beautiful 😭! Thank youuu!¡!! My toothpaste didn't have any grit to it so I sprinkled baking soda on it to help agitate. Came out like yours!! 🥲👍🏽
@designstudio44835 жыл бұрын
The best way to fix the plastic headlamp covers is to first use sanding paper. Start at a 220 grit then go up to 800 then to 1500. sand using spray water at all times .What you're doing is Sanding each layer smoother and smoother like prepping a car for paint . Thoroughly wash off the headlamp covers and you may want to use a Degreaser on them then washed that off. You can use Dupli-Color clear coat spray and spray three coats on waiting 20 minutes between coats. This will give you a shiny close to new appearance . You then can wax the headlight covers several hours after it dries.

Seems like all that costs more than a dollar
@gdfhds9705 жыл бұрын
What you wrote is how it should be done properly. Sure it will cost a bit more and is more time consuming, but will last much, much longer! After just brushing it with toothpaste it will soon turn back to the way it was before, maybe worse.

Six crates of headlight fluid and elbow grease inbound now
Been using this technique since 2010. I found it semi useful. Today, I tried to restore my e-bike's dash and headlights. Used grit 2000 to sand it off. It looked so bad after I sanded it, I was certain I effed up. Was very desperate and thanks to this video I had an epiphany. Went out again, applied toothpaste and brushed it liberally for around 5 minutes. The results was fantastic. It came out better than I expected. Even better I grew bigger muscles on my arm. LOL
@tlcagent2 жыл бұрын
Hey after sanding it down it's going to look terrible you have to clean the sanded material off and then buff the area to give the shine back before you polish . Sanding will definitely have a better result but the toothpaste is a good quick fix.
