yep the dash get so brittle and have to be rebuilt i also use some angle iron and metal plate .i did find a complete dash in a wrecking yard and boy was that a pain to swap out the dashes wont ever do that again .i can just hear that fragile plastic when your prying and moving it around

I have regular lights in mine but the switch is melting on the low beam prong inside the switch, I don't know why it's doing it but it seems to it once I turn the truck off

If you want to stop the melting wires/switch install a 25amp(higher amp relay better)relay closes to the battery and upgrade the the wires to larger gauge and it should be the last time you will have to replace the switch. So now the high amps doesn't flow through the switch only from the battery to the lights. Just look at a wiring diagram for fog light aftermarket. Your old wires going to the lights now will be the signal wire for the relay and your high amps will travel straight form the battery through the relay to your headlight and going to larger wires will handle more current with less heat. The other benefit is usually bright lights.

Mine has the same issue. I replaced the switch like you did and also use the new connector and wired it to the trucks wiring but still have the same issue. What do you think it can be?

You can unscrew the switch and remove it without removing the entire plastic dash face. He did way to much unnecessary work...
