This video references the LS1 crate from an early model Camaro, but power output "stock" does seem high, even with the long tubes and fuel management system on an engine dyno. The LS1 in C5 Corvettes made 350 crank hp in the later models with LS6 intake. Seems more feasible that it's an LS1 with vette cam, heads etc. Otherwise that's one seemingly generous engine dyno. I have an LS1 with similar cam specs, 232/236/113, ported 241 heads that flow bench tested better than stock 243s by a long shot. Kooks LTs and offroad Xpipe. Car makes 418hp 398tq at the wheels. Figure 475hp at the crank. No way that Fast Intake and 102 TB are worth 64 hp.
@bhcamaro20023 жыл бұрын
Good numbers for sure! My 02 SS with prc 2.5 5.3, custom cam and kooks headers made 426 rwhp. Swapping the ls6 for a fast might gain you 5-8 hp max but it's not really worth it. I have videos of mine if you wanna check them out.

Those numbers should possibly be divided by a range of 1.12-1.20, which accounts for a 12-20% drivetrain loss. This gives a slightly more realistic number to potential RWHP. Example: 539 ÷ 1.20 = 449 539 ÷ 1.12 = 481 So there's a 32 hp difference, let's meet in the middle and say 16 hp and add it to 449 so that put it around the range of 465 RWHP. Obviously I'm not an expert but there's a pretty wide spectrum however I've heard many people being around the 450 RWHP range with Heads, Cam, Intake and a good tune on a 346CID LS1. As well, always remember if you switch out your rear differential for a heavier setup it will increase your drivetrain coefficient as it's more rotational mass the engine has to turn while transferring power to the ground.

Probably 32/36 pounders. Texas speed has some decent deals on drop in injectors. Stock 01-02 injectors will make it close to 400 wheel. Some guys use the supercharged 3800 injectors for a little more.
@TheHuggmg Жыл бұрын
I would actually opt for a slightly higher lbs injector for about the same price or slightly higher...say a 42 lbs or 48lbs injector to reduce the duty cycle on the Injectors (I believe optimal duty cycle is around 80%). More food for thought isn't just exceeding factory Injectors but adequate fuel supply so when running a Heads, Cam and Intake setup always be conscious of the factory fuel pumps limitations. Factory LS'1s had a 190 Lph so around the 450+ range you could be tapping out the pump. I recommend upgrading the pump to a 250Lph so you'll be fine till the 550rwhp range. Hell, might even consider a 340Lph if yiu have bigger build plans.

I'm thinking the same thing. And you have to rev it to get that power too. Considering that most of us retail buyers would have to add fuel pump, injectors, MAF sensor, custom dyno tuning, and have to live with that big cam at low rpm driving... the cost for this is knocking on the back door of a new SC kit w/intercooler.
@zacharyrussell69832 жыл бұрын
To be fair, you could save money and run a ported 243 head and make identical power. I have pretty much the same set up with a Fast 92/92 and Cartek 243 heads. Made 467whp M6 through a 9".

@@wydopnthrtl and your car at similar power with the supercharger will be slower. Considering the added weight of the blower, then heat soak when running it over and over.

@wydopnthrtl Indeed. I've always been interested in videos like these before I actually got my C5 corvette. But after driving it for a few weeks on the street, I've noticed that I rarely EVER rev it past 5 grand. And most of these mods don't even kick in until then. Meh, I'll pass.

Big power but the reliability sucks. Seen a lot of LS1’s blow up or spin a bearing
@bhcamaro20023 жыл бұрын
Depends on who tunes it as well. If they don't know what they're doing or just going for max numbers there will be a consequence. My tuner has fixed so many issues from previous tuners doing that exact thing.

Thats alot of money to gain 125 hp. Ya could have probably turbo it for half that and make double the power

bruh
@ChefofWar33 Жыл бұрын
You can't just find the price of a turbo on the internet and think that that is what a turbo system costs to install on your engine. It take some serious fabrication skills to do a turbo system in a Vette/Camaro and make it look good and keep fitment of the hood. In fact, it's one of the hardest mods you can do to your engine bay. You are far, FAR better off getting an A/A Supercharger system for 8k and its a simple bolt on with no fabrication skills necessary.

@@ChefofWar33 you can buy turbo kits for all sorts of cars.
@ChefofWar33 Жыл бұрын
@@chevrolet355 Indeed you can. Installing them on the other hand... Well that requires knowledge, tools and time i dont have. Some cars are super easy to to. While my particular car, the C5 Corvette is one of the hardest out there.
