Clarification: The situation Reiner lived through was not the same thing Eren went through this episode. Yes, they both lost their heads, but what Reiner did was transfer his consciousness to the nervous system of his Titan. Erin, however, was not in his Titan when his head was blown off, meaning he wouldn‘t be able to do it

Moving consciousness to the spine is an ability of the only Armor Titan. Armor Titan is consider a defensive, more tanky titan. So that he has this ability for a greater vitality than other titans. Eren's titan (the Attack Titan) doesn't have this special ability, but his will be revealed in the next episode. These details are actually explained in the manga. For example, Pieck's titan (the Cart Titan)'s special ability are carrying stuff much heavier than her weight and staying in titan form for years.

Despite how crazy the series has gotten after Zeke scream, it really shows us that the show is still attack on Titan. It's still the same that we've watched from the beginning. I SCREAMED when Eren's got shot off. I straight up did not believe what i saw The reason for galliard seeing the memories is probably a combination of what you thought. Imagine if the moment of the flying head had been the cliffhanger to the next episode, rather than for the mid-episode inserts.... so like in the manga... the manga that left his head hanging there in mid-air for a full month on account of being only released monthly. Zeke's ancestors split off from the main royal family, before the vow rencouncing war was made. I strongly suspect that this is the reason why he was able to resist - or overcome as he put it - that vow, when all the direct descendants of the first king on the island were unable to.

You can't tell me Reiner doesn't have plot armor when they had the PERFECT opportunity to kill him after they ejected him from his titan form during the Battle for Shiganshina in S3, and they hesitated. Eren had the perfect opportunity to finish him off in Marley at the early parts of S4, and he didn't (even if we know why he didn't do it, it's still plot centric). Only two times right? The other times when it made sense to finish him off was right here in this episode, and at the start of the battle of Shiganshina when Levi skewered his neck and heart. Half of Reiner's close calls were literally because of plot armor. His ability to transfer consciousness is also only ever used during Levi run-in as well.

Honestly, i think its better writing for Reiner not to die. Having a character that desperately wants to die get what he wants would be the easy way out for him and not a great conclusion to the buildup of his character. The first was Marcel, sacraficing his life when they were younger. The second was Ymir, giving up her life to go back and help Reiner and Berthold escape when they were teenagers about. And the last of course was Galliard, who sacrafices himself here, when they're adults. At three seperate times, in three stages of life, Reiner was saved by the same Titan. Making it seem almost like destiny in some weird way. Also is it ridiculous that Reiner lived?? Is it ridiculous that Eren has lived through all his BS? Eren was dead 100s of times too basically throughout the show. More than Reiner, but he lived too. Reiner is basically the "Marley Eren" in a way. Of course he's going to live through pretty much anything. He IS a main character. He's THE main character pretty much on the Marley side. Not even Zeke, it's Reiner. So if you're going to act surprised everytime Reiner survives something, Eren is the same way. Which is why it's epic every time they fight, because truth be told, neither one is going to die, but it's going to be a good fight. The fact that you don't consider Reiner also a protagonist of this show and are always so down on him and want him to die... is pretty weird honestly. Much more of a protagonist this season OVERALL than Zeke and Eren.. so of course Reiner will survive most everything. And so does Eren, because yeah, he is a protagonist as well

I never fully bought that Eren would go with Zeke's plan, since for how much he's changed, asking his people to just stop reproducing and die out seems completely antithetical to the core of his character. Even before the fall of Wall Maria the kid was pissed off at the titans for keeping "humanity" trapped in a pen like cattle. He wasn't willing to accept the conditional peace that others around him did. So regardless of whatever argument is presented to him, asking that his people just stay where they are and quietly die off was never going to fly with him.

She's referring to before he transforms where Mikasa shoves a sword through his neck, severing his spine. He was effectively decapitated, just like Eren is here. There's actually a term for it: Internal decapitation. The difference here, is that Reiner was reacting to a sword strike and so he had time to respond. Eren got shot by a gun he couldn't see (ignoring his foresight), giving him no time to react. There certainly is a difference between the two situations, but it's nowhere near as drastic as your rather tactless comment makes it seem.
