I believe sprouting could be one solution to food insecurity in remote communities. It is hugely expensive to fly in fresh produce which often arrives in very poor shape. What a difference shipping the seeds from which to grow your greens indoors. And growin' yer own vs purchasing also reduces the amount of packaging.

I love what Doug said about food addiction compared to other addictions. Loved this interview Chuck..thank you. I currently grow broccoli sprouts but I'm looking into growing microgreens. Can you please interview someone who knows their way around microgreens?? Thanks PCRM.. ❤️❤️💜💜

What would you like to know? Ask away! Just as much exponentially charged nutrient value over full grown veg to start. Probably more chlorophyll with green leaves. More chewing to create nitric oxide for blood vessel dialation. Convenient nutrition compared to storing and growing vegetables. Less chance of frustrating mold since sprouts need to be kept moist. Each microgreen has a huge amount of antioxidants, antibacterial, full complete protein in sunflowers, full spectrum of vitamins and micro nutrients. Get on it! Or find a farmer to support and get home delivery for the freshest produce and vitality.

Thanks for reminding me to include sprouts on my regular grocery list! I picked up some broccoli sprouts this week, and started with that simple recipe you described -- nori wraps, sprouts and tahini. Yum! There also appears to be broad agreement that sprouts are great for dogs -- so I shared some with my canine companion Christopher, who gave two paws up!

I’m in the Mohave also. And in summer I’m in the wilderness, far from a grocery store. Keeping a fresh supply of greens is difficult. Many of my neighbors in the desert grow lots of fruits and veggies but I travel and don’t want to use all the water. Sprouting sounds like a great solution.

I am a new convert to sprouts. Grow them. Eat them. Love them. I am following a meat protein and vegan diet. A contradiction, right? I believe both are good for you. Fresh, raw foods and cooked foods. In a proper balance. I eat fresh prepared foods always. I do not eat any processed foods. Avoid them like the plaque. I exercise. I get lots of fresh air. My health is so much better than it once was. Just bought the book. The Sprout Book. Looking forward to reading it.

One of your belief is taking someone's life or paying someone to murder innocent being that spent their life (short) being abused, exploited.. Hopefully you will think about it and if it's not necessary get rid of it. Also "mur***ed body parts" is just a rotten corpse ,full of saturated fat ,cholestrol ,pus , hormones, leading to zoonotic diseases and antibiotic resistance ,not to mention detrimental to your health(mentally and physically ) in every way..

One fun fact from India. The famous pani Puri was traditionally filled with mung or chickpea sprouts instead of modern potatoes. Since potatoes are more delicious and doesn't require pre processing, it replaced the sprouts

Living in the desert makes it easy to sprout seeds. I used to live in a climate where the air had little moisture in it and I could just lay a jar flat in my cupboard and rinse the seeds once a day to keep them from drying out and in a week or less they were ready to be exposed to indirect light on the countertop. But now I live in quite a humid climate and the seeds rot on the second or third day, even if I tilt the jars and a large angle to drain the excess water. What can I do?

Agree; you are an example Chuck! This channel was what I needed to go deeper and deeper from carnivorous to vegan first, and now WFPB- trying to incorporate row now, with smoothies of veggies w a touch of fruit. Big row salads are still difficult for me; I do enjoy the beans, lentils, and rosted veggies a lot and don't have a health issue or body weight to tackle :). But it seems row is the current newer side of this WFPB- I hope you consider to invite also Dr Brooke Goldner, and keep diving into this...cheers!

I feed my dogs zero kibble. They eat completely a raw diet which is species appropriate. I know my canine nutrition. I also add sprouts. Where can I go deeper? I study dogs and allergies and I need a good reference for sprouts for dogs and allergies. I know the benefits as I am curing my dogs.

Soak Chickpeas for 24 hours in Water. The rinse them once and keep them in the pot with a cover (so they are in the dark) without water for another 12 hours. After that cock them for 45 min to 1 hour. Best Chickpeas you will ever have!

It would be great if there was some kind of machine to squeeze the juice from the sprouts. And the Machine was hooked up to some kind of app on your phone so you knew when the sprout-juice was ready. Sprout-aro or something like that might be a catchy name!

I would be interested in your assessment of the various studies that claim a genetic mutation that prevents the Inuits from going into ketosis. My casual perusal seemed to indicate that there is some kind of mutation that took place, though it seems that now the validity of the methodology of the blood tests that were used to determine this is in some question. Also it seemed that some of the studies indicate a condition that prevents them from transitioning to ketosis merely from low/no carbs, but that they could still go into ketosis is they fasted. The whole thing seemed inconclusive, which left me wondering if some party had an interest in keeping this matter in doubt. They also indicated that the Inuits actually ate more carbs than was first believed and this kept them from ketosis. To me, if it were actually true that the Inuit, in their traditional life, had developed such a genetic mutation, this would settle this entire matter, as to the long term viability of ketosis. It would also settle the matter of low carb, carnivore, vs med, plant based -- once and for all: for those who understood the implications of natural selection selecting against long term ketosis. Perhaps though, the moment has been lost along with the traditional sequestered life style of the Inuit, and if the data we have is questionable it may be too late to ever learn the conclusion to this debate that life itself had selected. I would be most interested in any view you had on this matter.
