As a tech junkie who's been watching your videos since like 2012, the son of an ophthalmologist, and now a medical practitioner myself, I'm really interested in your journey on multiple levels. These videos are taking a whole lot of complex medical concepts and really breaking them down in a brilliant way for everyone to understand, and they do a great job in advocating for a whole host of neurological conditions. You're an absolute hero, Jon; keep up the brilliant work, and all the best as you continue your treatment.

I had to pause the vid several times to just process your spoken word so that my mind can realize how freaked out I would have been had I have the same situation. Keep on the good fight. This will surely help someone out there, and that is something to be absolutely proud of.

I had shingles when I was 21 (the youngest my docs had seen!). I had a sore on my right eye, and I remember needing to see, in an emergency manner, a specialist. He did warn me that they needed to inspect the sore because potentially that sore could cause blindness in said eye, and I have been an eyeglass/contacts wearer already for the majority of my life. I was lucky, it wasn't affected. Hearing your story, I can relate to the parts I can relate to, and my heart goes out to you in the things that I was lucky enough to get away from. I am not "immune" from shingles coming back in the same places later in my life again, so I am learning a lot from this video. Thank you so much for sharing, and I know several of us are with you.

I like these videos because they really highlight not only living with a disability but how life changes when one has a serious injury or disability, how difficult it is to then carry on, to manage the things adults need to manage and just live in some sort of fulfilling way. People who haven't been through it don't get what a mind job it really is. What hit home for me in this video was when you said 'if i could just have X without Y or Z or Y without X or Z' and 'if I could just have ONE day off'. I feel that so much. It's horrible. I don't get one, my other half doesn't get one (we both have chronic illness with associated disability) and it's just brutal and wears you down. Jonathan, I hope and pray you will get your day off, or at least a day soon that's mostly free of the torment. I'll continue to watch, like and comment both to support you and to help the algorithm send this out to as many people as possible because it helps people begin to understand life with disability and/or chronic illness. Very well done to you for making this.

Also TBI here (frontal lobe syndrome): If you suffer from issues like extreme emotions (like anger) and impulsiveness, ask your psychiatrist about using Depakine (valproic acid). It's used for something else entirely, usually, but in my case it's a difference between night and day. It gave me full control of my emotions again, instead of being completely overwhelmed by them.

As an eye care professional who also had a run in with a herpetic infection in my face only recently myself, also currently dealing with it now, I feel for you. You did an amazing job of explaining vision concepts for the audience. I love when you quoted the terms ambient and focal vision. I was screaming it to myself when you were describing the concepts. And the ability to change either accommodation and/or con/divergences is called facility, which is very taxing on the visual system especially since you're essentially doing BOTH since you're working on your binocularity. Will be praying for you, brother. I am envisioning a Jonathan back in action making more thoughtful videos like current and past c:

Im so proud of you man, ive been fighting fnd myself and my nervous system has been a mess with paralizations, blindness, pains, and weird spasms, etc, the doctors told me i shouldnt be recovering but im fighting, im 23 and im not ready to settle down into a life of being sick and because of this im getting out of it. And i see this same fight going on inside of you, and seeing how far this drive got me, i know you will get out of this, but it wont be fast and you gotta grit your teeth through the pain every day until you get used to the hurt. You gotta break bones with sticks and stones until your body understands what you know it needs, you got this man, i swear, it didnt feel like it but just like me you can look back at how far youve allready come. There will be a day where you look back at this and think woah how did i get out of this, and you will respect yourself for becoming the stronger person that you are. I wish you see those days sooner than youd expect. But if not, realise thats life too
