Hey! This Healthy Flapjack Recipe makes the perfect travelling companion: it's packed full of energy, it tastes GREAT, and it will still be uber tasty after a few days squirrelled away in an air tight tub.
Here's the recipe over on my blog: hedgecombers.c...
Come say Hi!
My tasty food blog: hedgecombers.com/

THE RECIPE
Servings: 16
INGREDIENTS:
3 large bananas
175g dates chopped
180g oats
75g melted butter
1 tsp ground mixed spice
Pinch salt
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat oven to 180c/Gas 4
Mash the bananas in a bowl (get your hands in there, it's strangely satisfying)
Stir in everything else, mix it all up and let stand for about 15 minutes.
Grease an 8" square baking tray.
Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown on top.
Take out of the oven & let cool and then enjoy a little piece of damn healthy heaven :)
Until next time, happy camping!

@@hedgecomber you’re very welcome. I gave the recipe a try with a couple personal tweaks. Swapped butter for coconut oil as I’m dairy free and the dates for blueberries because I forgot to buy dates😂 turned out fantastic for my first baking attempt since primary school cookery. This will really help put a dent in my evening over-snacking! Thank you so much for such a simple but tasty recipe, I’ll definitely be checking out the rest of your channel. 💚💚

Good for you! Chop away on your wood counter top. Clean it down and even give it a sanding one in a while to get scratches out. People may frown but this rustic method is refreshing.

@hedgecomber 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Faye! Sorry you got rubbery flapjacks 😱 So, I'm thinking that it may be the banana that is giving you the rubbery vibe. Because we 'healthied' things up and took out ALL the added sugar & golden syrup, and then halved the butter, the texture is different than regular sweet, sticky, buttery flapjacks. However, if you are after that sweet, buttery kind of flapjack then this might be a better recipe for you (this is a KILLER recipe, just check out all those comments!) hedgecombers.com/the-best-flapjack-recipe-in-the-whole-wide-world-ever/ Hope that helps you on your way to flapjack nirvana Faye ❤

I'll bet those are tasty and all the ingredients I love. But honestly, I'm from eastern Canada and they aren't what we call flapjacks. They would be more like a version of date squares maybe, lol. Can't wait to try them.
@hedgecomber
@hedgecomber 5 жыл бұрын
Yep, this is the English/European version of a flapjack. A flapjack to you guys is a pancake, right?
@GimmeADream
@GimmeADream 5 жыл бұрын
@@hedgecomber No not what we call a pancake. A flapjack would be made out of yeast bread dough and dry fried on a cast iron stovetop. Bannock would be a baking powder dough dry-fried over an open fire. Dry-fried is no oil or butter is used in either for frying. Usually it is a rather slow cook. A pancake would be a sweet baking powder dough.

@@hedgecomber I make the all regularly and can give you quantities but I imagine you make them but call them something different. They are just recipes from the old folk. It is the cooking that makes them different, I guess.

Hmmmm, anything that will soften to a mush, and sweeten. How about apricots? Not the tough, chewy dry ones, but the soft lightly dried kind. You might have to mash them with a little hot water first? Oh, or mango? I bet mango would taste amazing **runs to kitchen... 😄
