I've just subscribed as I really like your relaxed presentation, no background music (hooray!) and easy to follow instructions. I've been baking for years but I like to try different versions of recipes so yours are ideal. I also like the healthy approach you take. I volunteer with a Hongkongers Welcome Course to help them settle in to the UK and our group are asked to provide a bring and share lunch. This enables them to eat food they like and are used to but I like to take a couple of British contributions for them to try and your recipes will be used next time! Thank you!

They look great. I love flapjacks. I avoid making them because I eat the whole tin if given the chance. I especially lovely the stodgey, fudgey kind, rather than the snappy kind that you get with sugar and syrup. These looks to be a decent inbetween so I'll give them a go! I'm keen to see how the coconut fat changes it from the pure button that I'm used to. Note: They're no _added_ sugar, rather than no sugar, as there's clearly sugar in the honey and raisins! It's what makes them taste nice :) But the raisins and honey have other stuff in too, including fibre, making it healther than a big bag of sugar granules and a big spoonful of liquid sugar.

Made the flapjacks today. Turned out well but top tip, combine everything in a separate bowl and leave for a good 30 or so minutes to allow the oats to soak up the liquid. I didn’t and ended up melting more honey and coconut oil and poring it over the loose bits to them incorporated. Very tasty!

This is another of your recipes I am going to try sometime, along with your lemon drizzle cake. Our local Morrisons sometimes sells 2 pint bottles of whipping cream, so I bought one to make butter. Using my Kenwood Chef with the whisk attachment, I ended up with 840g of butter which I divided into 4 x 210g blocks and froze 3 of them. I also ended up with nearly a pint of buttermilk which made some very nice soda bread. I was very happy with 840g of butter and the buttermilk for the £1 cost of the 2 pints of cream.
@BakingOnABudget10 ай бұрын
That's a great idea to cut down the cost of the butter, I'll try it and may share it in a future video. Thanks very much.
@paulcullen81410 ай бұрын
@@BakingOnABudget you whisk the cream until it gets to the stiff peak stage, then carry on until it splits to butter and buttermilk. Put the butter into a bowl of iced or cold water and squidge it to clean it then shape into blocks or whatever. It works with whipping or double cream, I use whipping cream because of the cheap bottles at Morrisons.
@BakingOnABudget10 ай бұрын

I'm in Ireland, I'm about to make healthy flapjacks, intrigued now, what does flapjacks mean in usa!
@thomaswebb25848 ай бұрын
@SusanaXpeace2u hello! So the pancakes here have baking soda as a leavening agent, or many people use a mix, which is basically the same dry ingredients. The batter is fairly runny after liquid is added and you drop a ladle full onto a hot griddle or skillet. Bubbles start to perk up through the pancake and when they start to burst, you can flip it. People generally get a stack or 3 or more, with butter on top to be distributed throughout. Then Maple syrup or flavored syrups (think berry) or other things are poured over the stack!

For anyone wondering: There is 2,039 calories in the total amount, which when divided into 6 is roughly 340 calories per bar. However, obviously if you're not living an active lifestyle, or your calorie needs are lower, you could cut it into 12 slices instead, making each slice = only 170 calories. Far healthier and more filling than eating a 150cal pack of crisps, or a store bought flapjack that is probably 300 calories including tons of artificial sugar and preservatives slowly poisoning your body.

I agree, much better than a bag of crisps and the heavily processed flapjacks. Thanks a lot.

Looks fantastic, but is it healthy, with all that butter, coconut oils ?????
@BakingOnABudget11 ай бұрын
I think it's better than a load of refined sugars and syrup which you find in many flapjack recipes.

Anything is healthy if ate in proportion lol. There is 2,039 calories in the total amount, which when divided into 6 is roughly 340 calories per bar.

Hi. Liked your scone recipe. Why don't you do a Stottie Cake video. I am sure they would be better than Greggs. Did you used to be a baker.
@BakingOnABudget10 ай бұрын
Yes, stottie cake is on the list, but I have never been a trained chef or baker, but always an enthusiastic home baker.
