@@39329maine Well! You don't want to cook like I do (I am a pathetic cook if at all). However, I manage to make the "concoction" eatable. Ingredients: Ripe tomatoes, baby tomatoes (tangy variety as Dr. Li recommends), all coloured tomatoes, all coloured baby capsicums, squeezed orange (no oil whatever used), generous amount of onion, garlic, tomato sauce, American mustard, honey, a pinch of salt, black pepper, black cummins, turmeric powder. The whole thing goes into boil for 3-4 minutes (to release lycopene). I like it, you may tolerate it 😘

@angshuman ray Happy to share. The hard truth I have discovered the hard way is that a WFPB Diet (Whole Food Plant Based) is the "cure all" (or "prevent all") medicine, however much one may crave meat & that your taste buds change as you change your diet. So, what I eat in a day is from Dr. Neal Barnard's plate (Vegetables, Fruits, Grains & Legumes) & bare MINIMUM oil & no Dairy. It works WONDERS! And now I LOVE it!

Been vegan 9 years but ate junk food off and on, fake meat, cheese, etc. Anyway Turned 65 and now have medical so went to a doctor. Had a blood test and was blown away! My cholesterol was 230??? I thought being vegan and not eating animals or dairy meant low cholesterol, but all that oil and saturated fat junk food must've done it. But the other thing that was kind of strange my b-12 was 4x the highest it is supposed to be? hahahah! People telling me do you get enough b-12? Seems I was taking a tablespoon daily and was supposed to be taking a teaspoon. My vitamin D was a bit low too. Anyway I stopped taking b 12 for now, started taking a small D vitamin and most importantly I went from a vegan that was off and on WFPB to junk food and went WFPB with no processed food, low salt, no refined sugar including no agave or maple syrup and NO OIL!!!! Went back in for blood test again after 10 weeks, Lost 5 lbs. cholesterol dropped 50 points from 230 to 180, b12 and D normal. Heart rate great! BMI great! I love eating WFPB based now and no more vegan junk food. My cholesterol will drop even more I am sure. I feel happy satiated and everything tastes so damn good now! Now 12 weeks WFPB and getting better weekly, also started doing some biking, a couple hours a week. I feel like I discovered a really cool secret. I mean I've read all the books and followed all the great plant based doctors like Furman, Gregor, Esselstyn, Barnard, McDougal, Klapper and more! But never went all the way with 100% WFPB. Yeah this is pretty damn awesome. This is the first time I have seen Dr. Li. another great doctor to learn from. Oh and I am reading The China Study again, so great! yeah how could I forget Colin T. Campbell! wow! I'm 65 and handsome and healthy! yay! Low fat WFPB for life!!!

I read Dr William Li’s book. It is filled with stories with amazing research. However, for some reason Dr Li does not show the practical information that is found in so many other science based nutrition books. For example, Dr Greger, Dr Fuhrman, Dr Hyman, and others will clearly identify a group of plants that are specific antioxidants. Most importantly, these authors show the comparative amounts of the anti oxidants within these foods. This allows the reader to choose perhaps the plants that are highest by relative of antioxidants. Or, the reader might already be eating some of these foods, and discover that the relative value of the anti oxidant in his current favorite foods is very not much when compared to other foods with much higher amounts of anti oxidants. So the reader can easily create a custom designed road map to increase or decrease his/her consumption of specific foods based on sound science. Unfortunately, Dr Li does not show the relative amounts of specific anti oxidants or specific angiogenesis promoting food values. So you guess wildly, or blindly, from his chosen list of only 4 or 5 foods. For example, in Dr Li’s stem cell foods his top rated choice is squid ink. If I do not want to eat squid ink, perhaps some of the other foods could be eaten. But you do not know how much stem cell promoting ingredient is found in any of the other foods on his short list of 5 foods. What does a whole food plant based reader do with this information? Dr Li’s book will raise more questions than he answers. But, Dr Li has an answer to such frequently asked questions. You can sign up for his nutrition course for $600.00. I give this book 5 stars for Dr Li’s wonderful research. And minus 5 stars for practical value. Looking at the alternative researchers, such as Dr Greger, or Dr Fuhrman, or Dr Hyman, and so many others give you all of their research values. Alternative researchers want to empower you to immediately begin optimizing your diet for your current, or future health needs.

The message I get from all the doctors you quote (including the one now speaking) is: DIVERSITY. Don't be picky, don't study charts, just eat as much different plants as you can, at least 30 different plants a week.
@carpediemjonah8110
@carpediemjonah8110 3 жыл бұрын
@@kfc4007 Yes, as a long term subscriber to both Dr Fuhrman’s website, and to Dr Greger’s website, I also get that clear message. And I practice it beyond belief. However, suppose a reader has a specific medical issue which they are dealing with. In that instance, Dr Fuhrman may stress diversity within a group of plants that address the issue, and he clearly makes the relative values of these active ingredients easily available to the reader - to let the reader decide from both a wider range of foods with their relative values. Dr Greger is not a medical practitioner, so he does not make such detailed food protocols for specific medical issue as does Dr Fuhrman. However, Dr Greger does reveal a treasure trove of relative values. He stresses the important of knowing these values. And getting the most bang for your dollars and efforts as he has said many times - with an abundance of charts and food values.

@@carpediemjonah8110 I understand what you mean. Although I like the idea of "food as a medicine" I don't like the idea that people should read charts and do maths for their food, that takes the joy out of food & eating. And that joy is exactly what I found when I found the WFPB doctors. And I'm happy with this doctor too, because I just heard him say dark chocolate is restorative :-D.
@carpediemjonah8110
@carpediemjonah8110 3 жыл бұрын
@@kfc4007 K FC, Dr Fuhrman puts joy into all of his protocols. His recipes are prepared by world class chefs who take great pleasure in creating super healthy foods. Remember, Dr Fuhrman not only deals with an average person interested in their own average health concerns. Dr Fuhrman also deals with patients who have chronic and/or life threatening diseases, for which the medical establishment either have no solution, or for which they have an armful of drugs as the “medical solution.” Drugs with proven terrible side effects. Have you ever attended a Dr Fuhrman pot luck dinner? Have you ever attended a Dr Fuhrman live seminar with meal included? Have you read or tried any of his recipes? His website has a vast library of recipes developed over twenty years. Many developed by chefs. Some by his huge audience. Dr Fuhrman provides his wide ranging audience with a wide range of medical solutions and abundance of choices. But, more importantly, an abundance of sound empirical data that makes their choices better informed to deal with their particular medical issues. Dr Fuhrman's humor is inserted within his comments on his website. There is not one size that fits all people’s medical condition. So the broadest amount of informed choice is very helpful for a diverse population of patients who face a wide spectrum of illnesses. Sound Data does not mean "joyless" to these challenged people. Their faces light up when they finally get the results they have been seeking. Sometimes seeking for many years. Life and joy and good health is what you make of it.

as i understand from doctors promoting healthy eating, its all for moderation, whats in season & whats available.. we know that too much of anything isnt good. whats most important is we understand the hows, whys, whats, & wheres...example is 'lycopene' of tomatoes can only be had if its heated or cooked... isnt that something?

I like Dr. Li's science based approach. I would like to see PBN include more content from doctors that don't push a 100% plant based diet. It's important to get their view point so more people can be educated about reducing consumption of animal products. Reduce first before advocating 0 meat is my point, respectfully 🙏. It's not easy to go 100% plant based and many folks can't do that for various reasons. Loved Jenna's interview questions and would like to see more content from her. I found her voice soothing 😊
