I’m 72 years old and have nAtrial fibrillation sleep apnea and my cardiologist told me in the next few years I will need surgery on my aorta. At 72 I feel great. I walk two miles a day five days a week sometimes six and every morning I do a half to 40 minutes stretching. I’ve been retired six years now and as a retired electrician and a man who loves carpentry cabinet and furniture making I can still lift heavy items and can crawl in attics and under houses if I need to without any problems. I’m saying this not to brag but to tell everyone regardless of you age you can do it too. Age is just a number. I understand we all have health issues but exercising and eating healthy is simply a must. Stay healthy 👍

Four years ago I had my first and only episode of heart failure, thus far. I was in the poorest shape of my life. I have Crohnes disease and due to this have short bowel problems as well. I was for a couple of years very depressed, and stopped exercising altogether. I wasn't looking after my health and in particular, ignored my blood pressure problems. Then around 2.30am I awoke in trouble. I knew immediately I was probably dying. Somehow I drove the short distance to the hospital and with amazing help, survived what should have killed me. After I was mentally and physically in terrible shape. I would tire very easily and as a guide to my mental health, I was calling myself "Dead man walking" I decided to start walking, and began worriedly walking short distances. Gradually I went longer and longer walks, deciding to let my heart tell me what was too much. I can now walk ten kilometres a day easily, no heart pain of any kind. My angina spray last year expired, without being opened from new! I feel really good all round. My last cardiac set of tests show my heart has got a lot stronger than it was! People often ask me what they did to make my heart better. I say they couldn't do anything, it was what I did to my heart, not what my heart was doing to me. I'm trying to make it up to the poor old ticker now!
@glennmorrissey25298 ай бұрын
Good work mate, you don't have to break the four minute mile but try walking at least 15 kilometres at least three times a week. You will get there and get better and better. Don't eat shit food such as KFC Maccy D's etc and avoid refined sugar and cigarettes. Good luck to you and keep going!

*My Irregular Heart Rhythm Experience:* In the previous few years I found I was experiencing irregular heart rhythm and some very strange beats. It got so bad I felt I was about to die and thought "just get on with it", it was horrible to live with. I had stopped exercising after a badly done hernia repair and a work injury to my lower discs. Anyhow, I ended up seeing a cardiologist and he kindly offered to operate and burn my heart muscle with electrodes! I told him to get lost as this would cause permanent injury to my heart, I'm now so glad I declined his advice. The first thing that I found provided relief was to take a teaspoon of L-Arginine per day, this was very effective but some symptoms remained. Next I supplemented with good Magnesium and also upped my intake of potassium rich foods such as dried apricots and dried tomatoes. I now have no symptoms as long as I keep my magnesium and potassium levels under control. Better than scarring your heart!

FLUID AND ELECTROLYTE BALANCE Electrolytes are minerals in your body that have an electric charge. They are in your blood, urine, tissues, and other body fluids. Electrolytes are important because they help: -- Balance the amount of water in your body -- Balance your body's acid/base (pH) level -- Move nutrients into your cells -- Move wastes out of your cells -- Make sure that your nerves, muscles, the heart, and the brain work the way they should. Sodium, calcium, potassium, chloride, phosphate, and magnesium are all electrolytes. You get them from the foods you eat and the fluids you drink. The levels of electrolytes in your body can become too low or too high.

Hi exercise on my recumbent machine 30-45 min a day (since 1994!) in spite of 30 different conditions that have plagued me. If I can do this at age 67 anyone can exercise! Today I went deep water running and that is even more challenging. But, I don't swim in winter. I have hyperadrenergic postural orthostatic tachycardia. And my Neurologist scheduled IV saline infusions 3x a week to enlarge my blood volume. This has been fantastic for me and this is the most 'normal' I have felt in more than ten years! Apparently my kidneys are messing with my renin-aldosterone-angiotensin balance and that triggers my heart to compensate and try and get my blood to circulate, with tachycardia. I have barely been able to go anywhere until now so, I am doing great for now. Getting these infusions is not sustainable bc of cost but, it is heaven whilst it lasts! You are really kind to post all these videos online to help others. God bless you in your passion! I agree with you that prevention is most important..everyone should stop smoking and eating junk food and get some exercise every single day!
