I met Anne and Nancy Wilson and the two guys in the band in my friends family room once. They were all sitting on the couch and my friend introduced me. They were very nice and asked me how old I was and what grade I was in. They said they were in a Band and asked me if I had heard of them. I said No, and they laughed. I was not yet a teenager and they were about 10 years older than me. They had nice manners, but laughed at almost everything I said. I was confident and spoke my mind without intimidation. I remember their hair was pretty crazy and they wore leather and boots. Their image seemed not to match their manners. They were dressed like tough, mean people, but were sensitive, artistic and funny, which, at 11, confused me.

@@BeautifulSpirit-kf5ld I went to a styx concert when I was younger. They make beautiful music. I also met the keyboardist from Steppenwolf once in the lobby piano bar at the Sheridan in Tacoma, wa his friend was trying out for the piano player job there and he was sitting there listening. I was there with a couple of college classmates and a psych professor. He asked what we were majoring in and I said psych and he talked to me about a problem he had and asked me to give him advice. I knew Steppenwolf was a very famous band but I didn't know the musicians. He didn't tell me until it came up in conversation naturally. He seemed like a very nice man. I wondered what a pain it must be to have people bugging you all the time when you are in public. That must be annoying to have zero privacy when in public unless someone doesn't know who you are. My memories of Heart is meeting the Wilson sisters at their soundcheck in Houston, way back in the late 70's. I was working the concert in Houston setting up lights, equipment, etc. I had just gotten out of the marines and they noticed the utility shirt I was wearing with USMC on the pocket and asked me where I got it. I told them I had just gotten out after 8 years. They talked a bit, told me their dad was a Marine, gave me a hug and did their soundcheck. I went back to work and after they finished Ann brought me a coke/pepsi, it was a long time ago so not sure, but they were kind to me. I've been a fan ever since.

No one -- male or female -- will ever come close to Ann Wilson's vocals. An unsurpassed, one-of-a-kind master at the top of her profession. She deserves the utmost respect. ❤️❤️❤️

There's plenty of singers that match Ann Wilson-Ian Gillan in his prime, David Bowie, Gregg Allman, Annie Lennox, Paul McCartney, Karen Lawrence, Chris Cornell, and the list goes on.
@useruser-jd3ed3 жыл бұрын
@@DCB728 by no means am i talking shit about those artists or your music taste but youre 100% wrong. You may value those singers the same as you value Ann but none of them have the vocal range she does.
@DCB7283 жыл бұрын
@user A singers greatness (or lack thereof), can't be reduced to simply what their range is. How about the expressiveness in their voice? Tonal quality? I'm tired of reading all these comments about how amazing Ann Wilson still sounds. It's natural for a singer to not sound as good at 70 years old as they did when they were 30 (hello Gillan). I'm afraid Ann has lost a fair amount of her range. Her voice gets clipped at times. Go and listen to her from 1978 (amazing) and then from 2018.

There are two songs that I remember distinctly changed my life: "Gypsy" from the Moodies' To Our Children's Children's Children, and Heart's "Crazy on You". The first piece I came across after my oldest brother came home from the US Army and a tour in Vietnam. The second piece came to me via a radio station in Denver, Colorado, where I was waiting for my first duty assignment after tech school at Lowry AFB. I didn't notice it at first, but then this VOICE leapt out of the radio, grabbed me by the ears, and shouted "LISTEN. TO. ME!" I could not turn away. I wouldn't have thought of turning away! I was GOBSMACKED without ever hearing that word! And I STILL can't turn away from that voice! But, who'd WANT to?

Goosebumps when Ann told the Montreal story. Reminded me that a decade later, my first arena show ever (I was 14!) was another Heart's gig at the Montreal Forum. Sure enough, they thanked Montrealers for believing in them more than anyone. Magical memories!

I remember being 20 years old (in '76) at my cabin in the hill country of Texas when I heard Magic Man for the first time. I was laying inside of the trunk of a 71 Pontiac Catalina with my head between two 6x9 Jensen 2 way speakers with my legs hanging out of the back of the car.( BIG trunk...) I was smoking a doobie and listening to the local radio station. I had a pioneer super tuner with a 200 watt amp turned up most of the way. They played Magic Man and it BLEW ME AWAY!!! I will never forget that moment in my history. I have loved Heart ever since and my wife and I have seen them several times in concert including seeing them at the Texxas Jam in '79 while on our honeymoon!. I am 65 now and still love to toke and listen to Heart's music.

It's really something to see her now, after seeing her in the 70's. Both girls were always pretty and she still is, but you can see wisdom behind those eyes. I've learned with my wife, who is only six days younger than me, that cute young girls can't hold a candle to an older woman of inner substance. Beauty really does come from within. They say that with age comes wisdom, but sometimes age comes alone. It appears Ann is the full deal. :)

To this day I've not heard any female singer better than Ann Wilson. Nobody can cover her, it sounds bad when they try. The power in her voice is mind blowing. As a girl growing up in the 70s and 80s she was a role model that females could rock just as heavy as guys, and there really wasn't anyone else besides Pat Benetar and Joan Jett back then. Thanks for the great music and memories Heart.

Wow, Heart..I was very young in the 70s because I was born in 67 but I remember the first time I heard Heart on an album and not the radio. My friends older sister had a few friends over, the parents were away.. and I went to visit my friend. Well the back room was full of bell bottom pants, striped shirts a bad ass stereo system, albums every where and beer and liquor bottles along with plenty of weed. Oh and the 17 to prob 20 year olds...Myself and my friend didn't go to the back room, we were in the front living room watching TV, out riding our bikes or something. That day her sister yelled y'all come back here for a few.. so we went back there and they said pick an album. I picked Heart..Dreamboat Annie. Not knowing at the time I had heard their music on the radio. I picked it because the front was so pretty with the big heart lol. My mother always listened to a radio, while cooking, cleaning, driving.. so I grew up listening to all the top 40 stations I guess you could say.. well they played the album for us.. we sat there in that smokey room, even with the windows open it was smokey. And then one of the older sisters friends decided we needed to try a joint or a beer.. we were like no no we're good. He kept on and on. So we got up to leave and the jerk chased us all around the house with freaking beer!!! I guess I was 11 or maybe 12. I had tasted liquor and beer b4 because my father is German and alcohol isn't a big deal over there and mom and dad had friends they'd go out to parties with our dances, and they had a liquor cabinet and usually maybe a few beers in the fridge. So I knew it tasted like shit and I didn't want it. But I'll never forget that day.. the day a high, prob drunk shithead chased me a totally straight track runner around the house😂😂😂 yup.. it was funny and of course he never caught us😉 My first time listening to Dreamboat Annie in album form.. lol
