Some have one bc their baby died inside them, some bc it is going to so it's have it and hurt/kill themselves or abort it since it will die before/during birth, some bc they had health problems told by doctors they couldn't get pregnant but did, some don't have money to feed themselves let alone a child and adoption costs along with any method of keeping them; etc. It's cruel to blame people for things they are suffering thru when you have absolutely no right to speak on situations you know nothing about. Nobody wants to admit that many women feel regret. This is such a politicized issue. And often time it comes down to money and shame. If people who are pregnant knew about our options, that you can get Medicaid as soon as you are pregnant, maybe more women would choose to keep their babies. There’s also the issue of how often men coerce women into abortion, but don’t have to live with the consequences. They wave it away as a simple “empowering” choice because that’s how feminism has framed it. It’s not that simple. And some women lose their only chance to have kids when they make this choice.

Currently my ex girlfriend is pregnant. We broke up a month prior to realizing. She's 6 weeks and won't keep the child unless we stay together. I tried so much and we don't work and it's sad. I make over 100k a year and said I'd take care of everything for the child. Even would take full custody. Life is better than none. She says relationship or no kid. She cried she wasn't pregnant when we broke up (which she was then but tested negative at night. Positive a week later in the morning) but I swear she never wanted the kid it seems, just me. She's going on 27 years old. I can't help but think she'll regret this... my heart hurts. She can literally go through with it in less than a weeks time. Idk why I wrote all this. I guess just to vent. Nothing a man to do.

This issue will always hit close to home. One of my classmates in college got pregnant & didn’t know how to handle it & decided to have an abortion. The guilt & regret consumed her for years & she eventually committed suicide.. and people’s judgement still lingers on.. That she’s a bad person for taking matters in her own hands. Killing a baby & committing suicide. People called her selfish, coward, crazy, dumb, bi+ch, etc. and that she will go to hell for all that she did. But she is not that kind of person. I will always remember her even if we’re not that close as someone who is very smart, witty, and has this charming smile. It’s been 15 years when it happened but we still can’t believe how tragic her life has become.. I hope she is now at peace & pray that God has forgiven her. I guess Abortion not only affects the mother who did it but everyone around her..

I'm actually.rying, her voice broke and all I got were my memories whilst listening to her story. I've not had an abortion but I have lost a child. Fully formed at 5/6 month, his twin sis is about to turn 18, she's called leah and I gave him the name lukas. Bless her, I can relate to that feeling..... Alot. I'm so sorry. I went through an abortion too and never felt so much shame, grief and loss. I felt all manner of darkness. But I've been slowly healing... I've started feeling that although I made that decision almost 7 years ago, the fact that I regretted it means I'm not that person anymore. The fact I had that experience does NOT diminish my inherent worth. It made me realise how valuable life is, that it shouldn't just be thrown away, which is why i decided not to end my life. It made me realise that I will feed myself well, love myself well, care for myself financially, surround myself with the best people, so that if I ever fall pregnant again, I will have the means to bring the child into the world and love him or her to my fullest ability. I didn't give a crap about myself before i had an abortion. But I've slowly reached a place where I love myself now more than ever. You are worthy of forgiveness, God already forgave you, so now you can work on forgiving yourself little by little every day. You are worthy of getting help for the heroin. Fill your life with so much purpose and good food and good sleep and good information and beautiful music and loving thoughts and compassion for yourself and others, that a drug doesn't seem appealing anymore. You became a mother the moment you conceived, that's why the loss was so huge. You didn't stop being a mother. Care for your self as you would a child. You are not worthless just because you made a decision you regret. You are valuable. You are worthy of love, from your SELF. You are worthy of a peaceful and beautiful life that you've built for your SELF. Do it in honour of your child. Let him or her see you grow from your experience. @@jellybablushI tried to cope with the pain with this mindset and I cant even imagine getting pregnant again because it will just be a constant reminder of the child that I aborted. I had a medical abortion at 7 (and a half?) weeks pregnant. Maybe it was 7 and a half weeks because the amniotic sac had a fetus in it that looked like it had eyes. It was extremely traumatizing. As crazy as it sounds I have pictures saved of the small amniotic sac because it’s the only thing I have left of the baby. Seeing the pictures traumatizes me all over again. The abortion felt like a robbery (and it was) and it altered my sense of reality; I started feeling like I was in alternate reality where everything looked the same but didnt feel the same anymore. I had the abortion almost 5 years ago now. Someone told me I can just get pregnant again. It isnt about getting pregnant again because not being pregnant is not what I’m upset about. I’m upset because I ended a life. Period. You cant replace a child with another pregnancy; my womb isnt some factory that churns out replacements smh. The nerve and mentality of some people I tell you.

Next year will be my 50 years since it. I was empty heartbroken and lost! I was 18. It wasn't legal here I had to go to Chicago but I laid in that back seat and cried my heart out. People need to weigh the pro's and cons carefully before an abortion. Both parents need to discuss the benefits and detriments of bringing a child into their life. Only if a child can be cared and nurtured properly by both parents should it be birthed. I can fully relate to your dilemma Renisha. I was in the same spot 2 years ago and I chose abortion. I cannot begin to express the amount of regret, depression and self loathing that weighed me down thereafter, including the desire to just die.
